suddenly realises where he's seen one of the comic's characters before...

All morning Crowley sat chuckling over examples of Scotland's finest creation...Comics. Minions with appointments found themselves addressing their King through his raised Beano or Dandy.

Dennis the Menace was Crowley's kinda kid. Lad even owned a Hell Hound, Gnasher! The Bash Street Kids' teacher's cane kindled happy memories in Crowley; and most of his daemon hordes were "Plug" ugly. Crowley adored Desperate Dan, or, as Crowley preferred, Desperate Dean. The comic's tough guy sported Dean's hair, his stubble, wore denim over his bowed legs, and lived for pies! Had to be based on Dean...Or?...Could?...Did Dean base himself on Desperate Dan?!
