Title: Outcast 2: Return to Rohan

Rating: PG-13

Genre: Action/Adventure, Drama

A/N: Hello again boys and girls! After what is decidedly a very long break from my story writing, here I present to you the next installment in the Outcast series. Yes, the title is different from what I said it would be, because, well, frankly, as of a few days ago, I just revamped my entire plot! As you know, when we last left our heroine, she was following Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli across the landscape to rescue Merry and Pippin. Valkyrie's already Boromir, and don't expect anything happier here… it only gets worse from here on out: You have been warned!!! I hope you guys like the direction this goes in, because I've become very attached to these stories. So, without further adieu, the prologue!

They were running… they had been running for three days. Valkyrie felt the chill of night beginning to descend as they crested yet another rocky hill, the sun beating down on them. The events of only a few days past still blurred in her mind. In less than one day, she had learned that she was carrying a child, and lost the father of that child to the armies of Saruman.

If for that reason alone, she now felt obligated to fight this war. People were dying… people she loved. She had to do something, little as her power may be. She was lost deep in thought, but suddenly she felt a blinding pain behind her eyes, and she stumbled over a nearby rock, rolling the rest of the way down the hill. The other three quickly stopped their frenzied pace.

She saw a woman, with dark crimson hair and sightless eyes. She saw rain, and stone, and carnage. She saw dead elves and men. She saw her friends dying, and in pain, and she cried out as she felt the cold steel of a sword pierce her own body.

She screamed, and her eyes snapped open wide. Someone was holding her, and she struggled for a minute before realizing it was only Aragorn, and she collapsed against him with a sob. "It was a vision! A horrible nightmare!"

The ranger shushed her and gently stroked her hair while the elf and the dwarf stood nearby. The elven prince knelt next to the frightened sorceress. "What have you seen." He said, watching her with cool blue eyes.

She lifted up her head from the ranger's shoulder with pure fear in her eyes, and answered him in one word.

"Death."

A/N: Like I said, it's great to be back! Review please! Chapter 1, coming soon!
