Disclaimer: I don't own any Naruto characters appearing in this story. However, I do own Asazuki Ruki, my OC.

A/N: Yeah, so this is my fist fanfic, so please be merciful . Also, Sasuke is 15 and half years old, and I will ignore all of the events that occurred in the manga about Sasuke's new abilities, 'couse I haven't bothered to read them. He'll be pretty much OoC, but it was inevitable. Other than that, I hope you enjoy this.

Prologue

The task was simple enough, and his two apprentices were ready. He didn't even put a lot of effort into it: the first one to get the necklace and take it to him would win, revealing which was, for now, a better shinobi. Knowing both of them it was going to be a good competition, for both of them had a thing in common: they didn't like to loose.

Orochimaru laughed; this was going to be fun. The young Uchiha had shown that he had been an excellent choice of an apprentice, but Asazuki was proving to be to be just as good as a choice. He didn't like that. It was good that they were both excellent ninja – and oh so very beautiful-, but they couldn't be equals. No, one had to be better than the other. Alas, he arranged this little contest.

He had a hard time deciding who he was rooting for. In the end, he hoped his little Sasuke-kun would win for the sake of his plan. The young missing Nin was always bitter after loosing, more bitter than usual anyway. Asazuki would probably get over it sooner if Sasuke-kun won.

Ah yes, his plan. It was brilliant and ensured him a future body for when the time comes. But with every gain came a loss, and a dear one at that. He didn't really care for other people's fate, whether they suffered or not. He cared only if they were useful to him. This particular loss would leave him without a valuable asset. That poor shinobi would most probably be tortured horribly, maybe even killed. Yes, he really felt sorry for-

"Orochimaru-sama." Turning around, he saw Kabuto standing at the door. His glasses reflected the little light the candles in the room emitted. "Everything's set. They're already on the way to the necklace."

"Excellent," he said, smiling wide. He licked his lips before blowing the candles out. "Then we should probably go to the meeting point, ne? We wouldn't want them to get there before us, right, Kabuto?"

"Hai." He answered nodding.

They left the room, leaving the little compassion he momentarily felt for that shinobi's fate behind.

A/N: well, that came out shorter than expected. I've only written the prologue, so it will probably be a month before I update . I'll continue this story whether I get reviews or not, but reviews wouldn't be bad, now would they? Please review, constructive criticism is welcomed.

Next chapter: enter, Asazuki.
