Happy mother's day people! I hope you all did something good for your mom before reading this. If not, better get to it!
Disclaimer: I don't own Bleach.

It was raining in Soul Society. The normally sunny sky was swamped with harsh, dark clouds. The rain pounded on all the roofs, after all, the shield around Seireitei was not made to keep out rain.
Unohana Retsu, captain of the 4th division medical corps, was not in her quarters at the hospital. Nor, was she on a mission to the human world. Unohana was currently laying in the captain's quarters in the 11th division, snuggled with the blood thirsty psychopath that she absolutely adored.
Normally, this would be a moment where all was right in the world. However, fate chose a different path for that evening. As thunder and lightning cracked the sky, Retsu was awoken from her slumber. With each bolt of lightning, a responding squeak of fear would drift from down the hall.
Sitting up slowly, as not to wake Kenpachi, she turned a quizzical eye to the door. Thunder shook the very heavens outside and lightning lit the sky for a whole minute. Sobbing noises came from down the hall. That was it for Retsu; she slipped out of the warm bed, and made her way down the dark hall.
Finding herself in the hall where the seated officer's quarters split off, Retsu waited for the next earth shattering clap of thunder. It came after a few moments silence, flaring in the clouds. A soft cry was heard from the door on the top left. Retsu crept toward the door, and slowly turned the handle.
There, sitting on her bed with her tear stained face in her arms, was the pink haired lieutenant of the 11th division, Kusajishi Yachiru. Yachiru looked up, alarmed at the figure standing in the doorway. Retsu moved softly and, without warning, embraced Yachiru.
The pink haired little girl began to cry, but was comforted by Unohana's hug. Retsu waited patiently while the little girl sobbed into her shoulder, ever present motherly smile in place.
"Is it the thunder?" She asked quietly, patting the back of the petite lieutenant, who nodded mutely. Another bolt of lightning cascaded across the sky, earning a small shriek from the pink haired girl.
Retsu held her for a while longer, reassuring her that it was alright. "Thunder's always scary Backwards-Braid Lady." The little girl muttered quietly. "Nobody knows about this, not even Ken-chan." Retsu smiled, marveling at how much Yachiru resembled Kenpachi, never showing a weakness. "Let's keep it that way." The captain said, smiling softly. "Really Backwards-Braid lady?" Yachiru asked, looking up, seeming so innocent.
"Really." Retsu replied hugging Yachiru closer.
After a few minutes, Yachiru had fallen back to sleep, and Unohana had returned to Kenpachi's room. She slipped back under the covers when a pair of arms snaked around her form, hugging her to a body. She smiled sleepily, eyes closing in content.
Now, all was right in her world.

There you go my mother's day fanfic. I chose the Retsu and Kenpachi pairing because I don't think there's enough of that, and you have to admit, Unohana being a mother to Yachiru is pretty cute. Anyway, I'm thinking about posting a multi-chapter fic, but I don't think it'll be Bleach. Probably Legend of Zelda. Anyway Thanks!
