"Maybe…" Garnet whispered, tasting her own bitterness in her words. She stood near her window, gazing out at the water that surrounded the castle. Her long, dark hair was braided and hung loosely down her back. She wore a simple green dress that was tied in the back with a turquoise bow. Everything about her appearance seemed peaceful, except for her eyes. Her chocolate pools were clouded over with grief, pain, and shock. They were filled with anger.

Zidane hung his head, and clutched his fists so tightly that his knuckles turned white. His dark honey colored hair covered his emerald eyes. His light brown tail was twitching nervously behind him and his mind was consumed with regret. He looked back up at the beauty that faced away from him.

"Dagger, I'm sor-" he began before she sharply cut him off.

"Shut the hell up, Zidane. Just shut up." She turned around and glared at him with tear filled eyes. "Tell me her name and then go."

"I-! … Her name was Clara… but what does it matter?!" he begged taking a step closer to her. She only stepped away in return.

"It means everything!" she screamed. "I trusted you! I loved you, and you go and do this in return… Why damn it?! What didn't I give you? Why was my heart not enough…?" she sobbed, now having tears flowing from her eyes. Zidane's heart was filled with pain when he saw the look on her face.

"It wasn't you, it was me," the Genome stated softly while walking right up to her. He placed his hand softly on her cheek, but she jerked her head away as if his touch had burned her.

She slapped him smartly on the face, glaring at his head when turned roughly due to the force of the slap. "Don't touch me!" she spat. He looked back at her, his cheek starting to turn a light pink. He grabbed her hand and pressed her against the nearest wall. Leaning his face close to hers, he softly whispered to her.

"Hit me if it'll make you feel better." She whimpered and tried to struggle against his hold. She managed to free one of her hands, and slapped him again in the same spot. This time, he did not move. Instead he closed his eyes, trying to block out the pain.

He placed his lips upon hers in a harder manner than she would have liked and pulled her closer to him. Placing her hands on his chest, she tried to push him away, but this action only caused him to hold her tighter. He didn't try passing his tongue through her lips, for he knew that would only gain him another smack. Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, he pulled away from her and gazed down into her eyes. They were still filled with tears.

A pained sob escaped past her lips and she bit her lower lips, trying to prevent another one from coming out. Stroking a few loose strands of raven hair, he gave her a sad smile.

"I will always love you, Dagger. Always. Please don't forget that." With that he let her go and slowly exited the room. Garnet fell to her knees and quietly waited for the door to shut so that she could be alone, but he didn't even grant her that pleasure. The door was never closed and the tears were already coming. She quickly stood up and looked out her window to watch him leave.

She never knew if he was going to come back or if she would ever forgive him. All she knew was that wherever he was going, he was taking her heart with him…

(A/N: I dunno why I wrote this, but it seemed like a good idea at the time. What did ya think? I know it was kinda on the short side, but it was meant to be a prolouge even though I don't even know what the story is gonna be about; I haven't even titled it yet! Anyway, R/R and give me a title if you can think up one, and also tell me if you think I should continue this or not. Thanx *^____^*)
