Cuts and Bruises

Anastasia- Willow, Julia Hoban Cross Over

Summary: It's hard to hide a secret when it's written all over your body. Anastasia, or Anya as she prefers, is living with her brother Vlad after her parents die in a car crash. Anya feels that she is responsible for their deaths, she was driving the car after all. There is only one way that she can deal with the emotional pain of their passing, she feels; the metallic bite of a razor. Anastasia cuts herself in secret until Dmitri comes along.

Disclaimer: I don't own Anastasia Fox does nor do I own Willow, Julia Hoban does! (Fabulous book by the way!)

Prologue: Crash

It was pouring. The wipers were going at their highest setting but had no avail on visibility. Anastasia could barely see the white road markers yet alone the end of the Mercedes' hood. She drove at the slowest speed she could, taking her time to get home from her brother's party with her parents.

Why did it have to rain?

Nickolas and Aleksandra were sitting in the back, sleeping and slightly drunk.

One of them should have been the designated driver. I just got my permit! Damn Vlad and his wine tastings.

CRASH!

The glass shattered and sprayed through the car like rain around Anastasia. There was a cracking sound as Aleksandra flew into the front of the car from her seat next to Nickolas. He smashed face first into the back of the passenger seat. The airbags deployed and Anastasia black out.

Beep…Beep…Beep…Beep…Beep

Anastasia woke in a haze. The sound of a steady beeping filled the void around her. She couldn't see straight and the room was spinning.

"Anya?" a male voice, Vlad's voice said. Concern, and probably lack of sleep, had transfigured his voice from soft and melodious to deep and raspy.

Anya tried to open her eyes, to see straight.

"Vlad?" she called out in her blindness. He came to her side.

"Oh Anya! I'm so happy your awake." Tears stained his face.

Anya's vision began to clear and the room stopped spinning.

"Vlad." Anya hugged her brother. "Where… are mom and dad..?" tears brimmed her eyes, threatening to spill over the sides if she blinked. Vlad pulled away from his sister. He seemed so distant.

"Vlad?" Anya called to him as he wandered to the window.

"They died. Dad died on the operating table nearly as soon as you all got into the hospital. Mom… mom was already dead when you arrived. She died on impact when the car crashed."

Tears started to flow from both of their eyes. Her corn flower blue eyes were swimming in sadness from the news. Vlad's dark green eyes were surrounded by a puffy redness, as if he'd been crying for days.

"How… how long have I been here?" Anya asked, attempting to break the silence that had engulfed the room.

"Almost a month." Vlad said, not daring to look at his sister.

AN: So that was the prologue for Cuts and Bruises. It was much longer than I normally write for a prologue but I think it works. I'm going to try and update more often with this story since this is all I've been doing in my geometry class!
