I shook my head as I wawtched them walk out the door toward the monsterous jeep waiting in the driveway. It was a stark contrast against Bella's small pickukp, I noticed as I followed them outside.
"What kind of a baseball diamond is he talking her to?" I whispered outlowd, as I watched Bella walk up to it and examine it.
The passenger side door was wide open, and Edward was helping Bella strap into some harness looking thing. He reached over to adjust a strap, but his hand strayed tehre too long. It was making me uncomfortable, and I was so close to clearing my throat loudly. But, just as I was about to, Edward pulled away. He got into the drivers seat, and rove away with my little girl.
I stood there for a few moments, half expecting to see them drive back up. But they didn't. I sighed to myself and walked back into the kitchen clearing the table, I suddenly felt old. Bella was growing up so fast, and time was running out. She was going to leave me soon, and I couldn't stop her. The little girl I've always loved was suddenly a grown woman, and she was spreading her wings getting ready to elave.
Filling up the sink, I beagan to absent mindeldy wash the dishes. My mind was filled with thoughts of Bella.
Halfway
through washing a steak knife, the phone rang, filling the slience of
the house.
"Hello?"
"Chief Swan? Can you come to headquarters? We have a situation."
"Yea, I'll get my coat." Hanging up, I realized something. For as much as things changed, they always stayed the same.
