Vala, wearing a short red dress, red strapped high heels, dark red lipstick, and hair curled and fluffed, dashed into Daniel's office and tossed an envelope on his desk. "I'm late."
He stood as she turned to exit as fast as she'd come in. "Hey, where are you going?"
"I have a date." She yelled back, exiting quickly.
He could hear her heels clicking down the corridor. A date? Puzzled he opened the envelope and pulled the card out.
On the cover was a simple heart and the words: 'Want to be my Valentine?' He smiled and opened the card.
Inside it read: 'For prompt service please take a number'.
Below that the words: 'Your number is."
And at the bottom was a small tag numbered '2,406'.
"Very funny!" He yelled out, then picked up the box of candy he'd bought her and stuffed it into his desk drawer.
