It was the day of L's funeral. No one uninvolved with the Kira case was informed. All but two had left. The ones who stayed behing were Light, the real Kira., and Ryuk.
All was silent. Light stood motionless infront of L's grave. He had won, after all that time, L was killed. Everything so far had led to that one moment.
After a long while, the silence was eventually broken by Ryuk speaking. He said, "So L's finally fallen... Nothing really exciting's gonna happen now."
Light couldn't hold it back any longer. He was no longer silent, he started laughing hysterically, nothing but evil and hatred in his eyes. He eventually spoke, "Now everyone who stood in my way is gone, and everyone else believes in me. Controlling the police is only a matter of time!" He fell upon L's grave on his hands and knees, and dug his fingers into the soil. "What do you think, L? I have won, I have won!" he yelled.
"I knew from the beginning." came a voice from behind. A very familiar voice. Light immediately stood up and jolted around. There was no way he was seeing this. Standing right in front of him, his back hunched over, black bags under his eyes, was the one he just killed. It was L.
Light stood motionless for what felt like the longest time."Die you bastard!" he screamed, lunging forward, and punched nothing but the air. The voice came again, "So you really were Kira, eh?"
"L, you are too easy. You didn't live up to your reputation." was Light's reply. "Now, just go to hell already!" He turned around and punched nothing but air again.
"Light Yagami. Kira." the voice came from L's grave. It came once again, "Light Yagami. Kira." It repeated itself all around Light. "Light Yagami. Kira. Light Yagami. Kira. Light Yagami. Kira." It was echoing inside his head.
"FUCK OFF!" Light yelled, pulling out his Death Note. He was crying at this point. "Why can't you just die already?" he frantically begun scribbling L's name in the Death Note. All the while L was appearing in his eyes and he constantly heard "Light Yagami. Kira. Light Yagami. Kira. Light Yagami. Light Yagami. Kira. Light Yagami." Eventually the "Kira" was dropped, and it was only "Light Yagami. Light Yagami. Light Yagami. Light Yagami."
Then, L leaned forward and kissed Light. Light became dizzy and slowly lost any sense of conciousness. Everything went black, all he knew was the feeling of L's lips on his.
Light immediately snapped back into conciousness. He then realized that the warm, wet sensation of L's lips on his wasn't what he thought. Light's blood rose from his throat into his mouth.
He saw L standing in front of him once again. He spat out blood, he was doubled over, he managed to say "L..." and he fell back on top of L's grave.
The Death Note was found laying next to the body on L's grave. In it was written "L Lawliet" over and over, but that wasn't the only thing. The words "Light Yagami" were scribbled in amongst L's name.
