Before both ways
By Major_Ryan
Two occupants are staring at each other, their toes are mere inches apart. They have been in this room before, but realise subtle changes. There situation is heavy, weighed down by agitation and determination. Their breaths are slow and methodical, silently lingering in the air. They feel its presence between them, but they refuse to acknowledge the significance. History is repeating itself and they wonder if they are drowning in deja vu.
They lean further into each other, their faces communicating vaunted antagonism. It's a converging dialect they speak fluently and it fuels their desire for control. They are both irrepressible, its what makes them uniquely alike.
Both believe they have a solution, a plan to bring about peace. But one doesn't want to take the plunge and the other has already caused a splash. It's not a question of doubt and it's more significant than their own existence. But everything they solely wish to achieve, hangs on the outcome of their own design.
Outside, the others are waiting and silently calculating the odds. Some of them are considering the alternative, but are threatened with stern resolve. It's fruitless in it's very essence, they cannot afford to get this wrong. They resign the thought for now, settled by a previous success. It must be, they all agree and understand he must concede. Unbeknownst to the people in the next room, they silently prepare to act.
Still the two occupants remain, the same room, just as before. One wishes to reiterate who they really are and how far they have come. The other wants to ensure they return to what they once were. They both open their mouths to speak, a beginning attempt at resolution. But they never get the opportunity and their voices are silenced in a blink of an eye.
The End
