It was a dream. It must have been, it most certainly wasn't reality… but then again, what was real? A dozen or more images floated across my vision. At first it had been mostly about the flock. Now a specific member stood out from all the rest.

A pair of dark eyes burned black against a hazy grey that had been a landscape, the pits and ridges of his face.

A retreating back, flanked by two others, walking away. Not looking, not caring where it's owner was going except away from me.
