Antonio always seemed to forget that Zaragozan winters (in January especially) were freezing. Today was no different as he (stupidly, according to Lovino when he heard the event sometime later) decided to brave the usually easy six block trek to the market. He didn't regret it as walking through fog wasn't something he did on a daily basis. It was freezing days like this where he missed the dry heat of Zargozan Augusts or the occasional rainy, wet Mays.
"You look cold, Boss," Lovino stated, a rare grin spreading across his face, when Antonio walked into the house, shivering and teeth chattering.
"I'm fine, Lovinito," Antonio responded absently, ignoring the mocking tone of Lovino's last statement.
"I got the groceries specifically so you could cook something niceā¦" Antonio said with a warm grin.
"I'll do my best," the Italian nation replied, feigning a solemn tone. When Lovino cooked, the whole house fell silent. Cooking was an act of importance to both Lovino (and Antonio as well), so Lovino always, usually angrily if Antonio felt particularly chatty, asked for total silence in order to concentrate the best.
"Why'd you buy this house in Zaragoza anyway?" Lovino asked in the middle of stirring something that smelled utterly delicious. Antonio shrugged.
"Just wanted a change of place. I love the feel of this house anyway, so cozy and quaint and warm," Antonio explained, absently twirling a lock of his brown hair. More silence fell upon the two nations.
"Dinner's ready," Lovino announced.
"What'd you make?" Antonio asked eagerly.
"Tomato soup with mushrooms, nothing too special." Lovino said. They ate in comfortable silence.
Antonio loved moments like this, where the two nations could sit in peaceful silence without any distractions from the outside world. Dinner with Lovino was something Antonio would always cherish.
A/N: Written for the 30_gens community with prompt 1, bad weather. All grammar, spelling and/or punctuation mistakes belong to me as this remains unbeta'd. All research errors belong to me as well, as I am not a resident nor a citizen of Spain. The ending is a bit cheesy but I like how this came out. Also, happy New Years Eve(/day, if that applies)!
