Jack stood with his arms crossed over his chest, not breaking the stare he and his former first mate were currently engaged in. It had gone on like this for sometime, now. He would alternate between glowering and smirking, the latter of which would positively grate on his co-captain's nerves. Barbossa would glare horribly at him, not wanting to award Jack even the smallest amount of satisfaction, concealing his growing annoyance behind a livid façade.
Dropping his arms to dangle at his sides, Jack leaned forward, sneering mischievously.
"Face it mate. You're out now. Everyone knows it. And you can't expect people to just forget hearin' about something that personal." He flashed a toothy grin.
A look of outrage finally began playing on Barbossa's features. Taking a step forward, he shook a threatening fist at Jack.
"Shet yer mouth, yeh filthy, scurvy, yeasty, hog-headed rat!" He snarled. "Yeh can't jest go around spreadin' things 'bout people the people don't want yeh ta spread!!"
Jack grinned a big, idiotic grin and rocked dangerously far back on his heels until it seemed he would fall back onto his butt wearing that stupid smile on his face the whole time. Then he leaned forward again, re-folding his arms over his chest.
"There's nothin' that can be done 'bout it now, mate. Your BIG secret's out, and everybody knows it." He half-turned, breaking their staring contest. "But, come on. It's not all that bad that everyone knows about you now. Just look at this situation as a way to start livin' life as a new person, completely different from your old self in everyone's eyes."
The other captain was practically shaking with rage, the elegant feathers atop his grand hat quivering in the still air.
"If, by 'completely different from your old self in everyone's eyes' yeh mean I'm lookin' ta loose every ounce o' the respect I once held in the eye's o' the crew then, yes, this be the PERFECT SITUATION TEH BE IN!!!"
Jack shrugged. "Or… I guess you could hope that they've all forgotten about it by now. I doubt it- really, I do- but there is always… hope." He finished with a drunken wave of his hand and a cocky smile.
If it hadn't been for the fact that the only reason Barbossa was alive and sailing on the Pearl again was so he could rescue Jack from Davy Jones' locker and bring him, alive, to meet with the other pirate lords at Shipwreck Cove, he would have strangled the man right there and have no future trepidations about the matter. But... he needed him alive.
Sighing, shoulders drooping slightly, Barbossa gave up on the argument. "Well, perhaps yer right… After all, how many people could really have heard ye sayin' that anyhow?"
Just at that moment in time, Elizabeth walked by, snickering. "Hi Jack." She called. "Hi-" Here, she was interrupted by an outburst of giggles, "Hector!" And she hurried off laughing uncontrollably.
Sheepishly, Jack slinked off as Barbossa began cursing at him for revealing his best kept secret.
