Chapter 1: Parched Pavement
The parched pavement stung his cheek as he picked himself up. He abruptly fell back as his ears suddenly readjusted and found the noise level to be extremely high. His pounding head turned from side to side to examine his surroundings. There she was, standing over him, with tears streaming down her cheek onto his face, almost steaming on contact. How had he gotten himself into this situation? Why were all these beady eyeballs glaring down at him, piercing through him? Had he done something to upset them?
"Keeper of my heart, sweetie, dear, can you get up?"
"Umm.what the.huh?"
"Oh my darling, you fainted."
"I.uh.what?"
"Fainted! It was just awful, are you alright?" said a new voice.
"Umm.what the.oh my goodness!"
"I know, I know dear, but don't worry, everything is going to be okay."
"I'm so sorry, I.I.fainted! What.I can't believe I fainted! Fainting is for sissies not for pro-Quidditch players." He heard snickering in the background as he made this comment. "I guess I just lost control. And I was so nervous to begin with. I never thought getting married could be so stressful."
"Don't worry dear," came the distant voice of Mrs. Weasley, "at our wedding, Arthur here, fell into some candles, catching everything on fire, including the priest!" Giddy laughter engrossed the crowd as they all returned to their seats.
The rest of the ceremony was perfection. The vows were beautiful, as were the couple giving them. After the procession out, the newlyweds ran to their broomsticks to ride away and say their goodbyes.
"HAHAHA! You didn't make the save this time, Woody! The voice of this individual boomed over all others as he turned to see a good friend swooping down at him. "That's definitely going to make it into The Weasley Book of Embarrassment, available in June at Weasley's Wizard Wheezes!"
"Oh, shut up Fred," cried to groom as he sailed away, one arm around Katie.
"Farewell.Oliver.farewell Katie!" came a sobbing voice from the side, "I will miss you dearly."
"Oh mom, I'm only going to be gone for the weekend. We have Quidditch practice first thing Monday morning." called back Oliver as they zoomed out of sight.
"What a beautiful wedding," cried Professor McGonagall.
"Yeah, if you like fainting grooms," whispered Ginny to Neville.
"This better not happen at my wedding," Ron glared at Harry with a worried look.
"By the way, where is Hermione?" questioned Harry.
"She had to Apparate soon after the vows were concluded. That job of hers keeps her on her toes."
"Nothing would suit Hermione better," Harry replied.
"Yes, well, that's one of the things I love about her. She's very dedicated," Ron smiled.
There was no reception, due to lack of time for the honeymooners, so Harry invited Ron to his place to have a few drinks. They had an exceptionally great time discussing Oliver's tremendous fall on his big day. By the time they were through cackling, it was past midnight and Ron headed home.
An owl caught up with him as he opened the door to his apartment. The note was from Hermione, with three simple, yet powerful words written on it: I Love You
