StarBurst

The Doctor flung himself into the TARDIS and leaped towards the console. His hearts beating madly, adrenaline rushing through his veins, he pulled the levers and pushed the buttons and kicked the sides and with a great big whoop felt the anti-gravity thrusters heave the TARDIS out into orbit. Gasping for breath, he slumped against the console. Looking up, chest still heaving, he looked into the twinkling eyes of his partner, River Song. They just sat and heaved and stared for a long moment, and then burst out laughing. Laughter poured out until they were red in the face, couldn't breathe and their stomachs hurt from the sheer force of their desperate relief. Every time they looked at each other they laughed even more, until they ached so badly they subsided into weak chuckles and crying partly from amusement and partly from realizing that they survived and they both were okay. Leaning over backwards over the console, the Doctor gazed up at the high ceiling and began to feel his pulse slow. He slung his head over to the side and looked at River. She looked at him. Lifting herself up, she methodically padded over and stopped just a few inches away. The sweet smell of time and something uniquely River teased his nose with its rich, decadent smell. Inhaling deep, not moving from his languid pose sprawled out over the console, he watched her. She raised one arm and slid her hand onto his warm shoulder and slid his coat off. He helped her shrug it to the floor at their feet. The air was warm, the light a welcoming low orange-like that of firelight, courtesy of the TARDIS- and the atmosphere electric, charged. She felt every beat of her heart thud. He watched the jump of her pulse in her throat. She felt every breath slide in and out, making her lightheaded and breathless. He watched every breath raise her breasts slightly each time. She hooked one finger under his left brace and slid down slowly towards his waist. He stayed where he was, content to let her do as she wished of him. That pretty much summed up their relationship in a nutshell. She placed her palm on his chest, reveling in the strong beat that pounded in rhythms of four. He was warm, and he was real, and he was hers. Staring straight into his eyes, she began to kneel. The next thing the Doctor knew was that somehow the stars were in his eyes.
