AN: It's been a while, but this is a one shot from a plot bunny in the tudors forum, that asks what if Charles V agreed to invade England? I made it a one-shot with Katherine's thoughts. Some bits from Isabel implemented in her as well. Be forewarned, it's a little OOC for Katherine.
Plot Bunny #44, posted by Doctor Madwoman
Suppose Katherine eventually agreed that her nephew should invade England on her behalf?
(this is the plot bunny I am using. Albeit I had it backwards due to going off memory, but it still works)
Katherine stared at the letter from her nephew, which promised to invade England on her behalf. With a smile she folded it and set it aside for the moment and turned to one of the old chronicles from the early 14th century.
Yes, she had been reading about Isabella of France and how the Queen had deposed her own husband, and placed her son Edward III upon the throne. Katherine would have never thought that she herself was such a Queen as Isabella, but it seemed as if she would be so.
She had been thrown out, humiliated, her child subject to abuse and mistreatment, and all at the hands of the man who was her husband. Why should she have to endure it? She shouldn't, and Henry would learn thus. Unfortunately, he would learn by losing his life. Henry, Thomas Cranmer, the Boleyn whore, Thomas Cromwell, Bishop Gardiner, and all those who had supported her husband in his endeavors. Every hint of wrongdoing against her and her daughter would be punished.
If there was one thing that Katherine regretted, it was that she had allowed this hellish torment to descend upon her only living child. Her face twisted in anguish and she uttered a short prayer for her child.
She thought of Edward II once more and smiled wryly. Her own husband? She would kill him no doubt, but by what method? She recalled her elder sister Isabel telling her of how their mother had thrown traitors from the highest roofs of Segovia when they had threatened to harm the Queen's daughter. Should she cast her own husband so? They always said she was forgiving, but even Katherine had her lines, and those who crossed it were more than aware of the consequences. She thought of her old confessor, her former lady in waiting, and the King of Scotland. Their current states were none to their liking, well to be fair James was dead so he couldn't say anything either way. Katherine had once told Henry that she was her father's daughter. Beneath the austere, noble, and prideful dignity she bore, was a woman of cunning and ruthlessness, the same two that had earned her father his reputation throughout Europe.
Henry had broken with Rome, and Katherine knew that he was dissolving abbeys, and sooner he would move on to the monasteries. Did her husband really think that these vile proceedings would occur without a hint of protest? No, the seed that her husband had sown would sprout, only it would turn against him and she would see that it do so.
I may expand at some future point, but this is it at the moment!
AN: I didn't copy anyone's story, I made an author's note at the top (and have added detail) as to where this idea originated and it's a plot bunny. I'm not in the mood to tolerate any kinds of attacks on my story or myself. Any such guest reviews will be henceforth deleted.
