Captain Phil Harris
This is my tribute to Captain Phil Harris. This is my opinion of him as a man and captain of the Cornelia Marie. It needed to be said so I can get on with my healing and loss after his death. I hope it helps heal others who feel the loss like I do.

On February 9th, 2010 the world lost a very special man. Not many people knew of him, only a few lucky million or so. To many, he was a character, the salt of the sea, and a hard ass. But, to those lucky to really know him, he was dad, son, friend, companion, and boss. He was Captain Phil Harris, born December 19, 1956 and passed away February 9, 2010.
He lived a short life (53 years) compared to most, but in his short life he did a lot. He fish crab in Alaska's Bering Sea and was considered one of the most beloved of the Captains. He fished with not only his father, but his two sons as well. He had his loves, his need for speed, fast cars, and faster motorcycles. He had many friends and many fans, who loved him.
Phil may have been a tough captain and crab fisher, but he was also known as a cuddly teddy bear with a heart of gold by some people. Most crab fishers respected him and counted him as a friend, but could go toe to toe in the prank department every year. He loved his deceased mother, his father, and his boys, Josh and Jake. He made them the men they are today and he'd be so proud of them doing what they knew he'd want them to do. It's also been said that he loved his ex-wife Mary up until the day he died.
Fans of Deadliest Catch will never forget him and neither will anyone who had come to know him. Deadliest Catch will never be the same without Captain Phil Harris. I know I'll never forget the fart bubbles or crab gas that he claimed to find his crab by the smells. HE was truly one of a kind, and there will never be another man like him.
May you rest in peace dear Phil, and watch over our captains and boats as they continue to do the job that you loved doing. God Bless you Phil and never forget you.
Safe passage, Trisha
