Christmas parties are stupid.

"Come on, Riku!" Kairi tugged on the boy's hand.

He didn't budge. "No."

"Why not?"

"Because." That was his final rebuttal before he sipped on his glass of eggnog. The redhead hovering over him puffed out her cheeks.

"All I'm asking for is one little dance. That wouldn't kill you, would it?"

Riku pondered on this for a brief moment. Quite frankly, yes it could kill him to dance. He may trip over his own feet and crack his skull only to bleed to death on the floor. He could have a premature heart attack from getting worked up. The power could go out and he could accidentally wander over to the fireplace and burn alive. He decided not to voice these opinions to Kairi. Things would only get worse. He kept taking small sips of his festive drink as he met her eyes. Things would also get worse if he continued to deny her. He placed the plastic cup down and stood to his feet with a sigh. A slow song was now playing throughout the room.

Riku held out his hand, "Care to dance?"

Kairi stood shocked but then quickly shook herself from this daze and giggled as she placed her small hand in his.

Dance they did. The pair waltzed, spun, and stepped their way around the room in rhythm with the music and other participating persons. Strange as it may seem, Riku actually did enjoy himself and by the smile on his dance partner's face, he'd say she did too. They did, however, have a little too much fun and somehow ended up in the hallway.

"I didn't know you could dance so well."

Riku mocked fake shock,"Have you ever seen me dance?"

"Not including today? There was this one time in second grade when you-" Kairi's words suddenly halted. Riku wanted to hear the rest about the time he supposedly broke out in dance but he decided to figure out why she stopped. Her blue eyes were gazing skyward and he followed their path only to take sight of...Oh no.

Kairi began smirking but Riku did not notice because his eyes were locked in fear from the object hanging above them. She took advantage of this moment to hoist herself up on her tiptoes and attack the unsuspecting boy with a kiss. She pulled back after a few seconds. The girl covered her mouth with her hand to hide the laughter threatening to spout from within. And all Riku could do was stand there with bright red cheeks.

Christmas parties are so stupid.
