A/N: This is my first fic, criticism and reviews welcome. I tried to keep it in character but, I'm not too sure how that turned out. This just popped into my head whilt i was supposed to be revising, just a little oneshot. Un-Beta'd.

Thirteen was just sat there, staring blankly at the page in front of her. It couldn't be positive. She should have her whole life ahead of her; instead it's just been ripped away. It wasn't fair. How could that small amount of hope be ripped away from her with one simple test?

--

Maybe it was a little bit voyeuristic spying on her, but it was done with good intention. She was just worried for the young doctor.

Walking into the lab, she tentatively made her presence known.

"Dr Hadley? Are you okay?" Thirteen looked up, a look of shock fresh on her face.

"Why are you here Dr Cameron?"

"I noticed you didn't leave the hospital earlier with the other fellows, and I was just wondering if you wanted to go for a quick coffee or something."

"Why are you asking me? Don't you have a fiancée or close friend to ask, rather than you're ex boss' new fellow?" She crumpled the results and stuffed them into her lab coat pocket.

"Evidently you're not into hospital gossip, my 'fiancée' and I split. What if I was hoping to gain a new friend out of the coffee?" She took a step closer to Hadley, almost daring her to reply.

"Well normally I'm the subject of gossip, so I tend to steer clear of it. I only drink decaf. Where were you thinking of going?"

"There's a little café around the corner that I found when I worked for House. Failing that, there's always the hospital cafeteria…?"

"I think I'd prefer to leave the hospital for a bit, I just need to grab my stuff."

"Ok, sounds cool, I'll grab my bag and meet you in the foyer in 5?"

Half an hour later, they were both seated at a table chatting animatedly, as if they had known each other for years, and occasionally sipping their coffees.

"Looks like you may have got a new friend out of this coffee after all Thirteen smiled.

"I most definitely think I have, I'm finished with my coffee now, you?"

"Yeah. Do you want to go for a walk in the park?"

"Actually I think I'm gonna head home, I have an early shift tomorrow. But I can walk you home?"

"Okay, but it's a couple of blocks away…"

They walked back in relative silence, occasionally making small talk, but mostly keeping to their own thoughts.

"So… this is my stop. Thanks for tonight, it was fun, we should do it again sometime."

"Sure, I'm always around. See you tomorrow? If you're free, I don't want to interrupt your plans or anything-"

"Lunch in the cafeteria at one?"

"I'll see you there then" Allison smiled, and it lit up her entire face, she was beautiful. She turned and left, feeling mysteriously attached to the young brunette she had just walked away from.

Remy's head was spinning; it wasn't possible to fall for someone in just one night, was it? Allison was straight, wasn't she? Thinking about it, the only thing she knew was that Allison was single…

She was cut off from her thoughts as there was a knock at the door. Opening it she saw none other than the person occupying her mind.

"I'm sorry; I just couldn't go with saying goodbye"

The next thing Remy felt was Allison's soft lips upon her own, getting over her initial shock, she responded eagerly. When the need for oxygen made itself apparent the pair split, breathing heavily.

"That was one hell of a goodbye" They both smiled.

"Well, I can go now, see you tomorrow Remy"

"Lunch at one, if you forget I'll find you Al."

As she watched Allison walk off into the night, she realised that things were indeed looking up in her life. She didn't need to worry about Huntington's yet, and when she did, she had a feeling that there would be someone special by her side, helping her through.
