Jolly Gang chapter 1 prologue
On an island deep in the East blue in a little port town named Foosha village a chant could be heard from the inn. A gang of pirates surrounding a table with their bright red-haired captain, and a kid with a darker shade of red hair, one half of the pirates chanting the name Shanks and the other half chanting Luffy.
"Give it up Luffy, you've never beaten me at anything" Shanks said while stuffing his face with as much as food he could get his hands on
"shut up old man, todays is the day!" the boy named Luffy shouted back, while eating just as much.
Suddenly both people turned a sickly green and stopped moving, and the inn became deadly quiet everyone waiting to see what would happen next. The first to move was Luffy bending over an empty barrel and throwing up everything he just eaten, with Shanks shortly behind him emptying his stomach into the same bowl. Lucky Roo was quick to address all the pirates.
"and the winner is SHANKS‼"
"well done captain"
"better luck next time Luffy"
"hey! you owe me 1000 berri"
"cheap skate, I was just supporting Luffy"
The motherly matron was just looking on the rowdy gang and smiling to herself. Shanks was the first to stand up and wipe his mouth before turning to Luffy with a big grin on his face, waiting for him to be done. When Luffy was standing again wiping his mouth, and a tear drop in his eyes Shanks finally addressed him.
"alright, Luffy a promise is promise" Shanks said with a goofy smile on his face "you can't call me anything but father, dad or if you're really good daddy"
"shut up ol-"before he could finish his sentence he got a thoughtful look on his face "father…" he finished meekly before he was quickly scooped up, and brought into a bear hug by his dad.
"aaaaah, your so cute Luffy!" Shanks was screaming while swinging Luffy around.
"let…me…GO!" Luffy screamed while kicking his dad in the face, and when managed to squirm out of his dads grasp he quickly jumped into Makino's arm.
"Makinoooo fathers bullying me" he complained while rubbing his head between her breast.
"OI‼ what do you think your doing you little pervert" Shanks screamed before he was quickly reprimanded by Makino with a scowl on her face
"Shanks, you shouldn't tease Luffy so much, he has been missing you"
"aaah‼" Luffy screamed while jumping away from Makino "who would miss such a stupid dad"
"Luffy you called me dad!" yelled with stars in his eyes
"no I didn't, stupid father" Luffy said sitting down at the bar, with his dad just beside him.
"can't fool me, I know what I heard. Hey Makino bring me a bottle, this has to be celebrated Luffy finally called me dad without me forcing him"
"AAAAH‼ I didn't the bet was that I had to call you father or dad"
"yup, but you could just have called me father like always" Shanks said with smile.
When Makino sat the bottle of rum before Shanks, Luffy was quick to grab it just to spite his dad, and quickly downed the whole bottle before falling off the stool.
"what the fuck are you doing you stupid son"
"HAHAHAHA‼ captain he is already becoming like you, was the last Luffy could hear before passing out from the alchohol.
A while after Luffy woke, and with his cheeks still red from the alchohol looked around, to find the whole inn had become a mess with broken glass scattered around, and the pirate gang helping their bloody and wet captain with picking up the glass and removing it from his hair. Luffy meanwhile was looking on this with horror.
"DAD! What happened" he was quick to jump to his dad's side "who did this, are you okay, did you beat them up for this, are they dead?" he asked the rapid-fire questions with panic in his voice.
"naaah Luffy your old man didn't need to lift a finger they weren't worth it those mountain bandits" Shanks said with a serious look in his eye, to see if his son understood it.
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN THEY WEREN'T WORTH IT‼ you're a pirate captain, no one should disrespect you, I THOUGHT MY DAD WAS COOLER THAN THIS‼" Luffy was screaming before running out the inn with tears in his eyes, leaving Shanks with a proud look in his eyes that his son cared so much for him.
…a while after…
"LUFFY'S IN TROUBLE" the mayor burst into inn, leaving all the pirates speechless, Shanks and Makino with a worried look in their eyes "he went after those mountain bandits, saying he couldn't forgive them for hurting you Shanks, they want to kill him!" every pirate was quick to their feet running out to help their little friend.
Out in the middle of street the mountain bandits were gathered around the little kid who had dared to attack their infamous leader, who was holding him by the neck. The villagers and pirates were quick to gather but no one dared get closer, for fear of them hurting Luffy.
"I'm the mayor of this village, please let the kid go, where willing to pay you anything" the mayor was begging while prostrating himself on the ground.
"nah, can't do that, this little fucker disrespected me, and you've seen my bounty, I'm not exactly known for letting people go who don't show me proper respe-"the leader was cut off by Luffy kicking him full force in the balls, leaving him blue in the face.
"shut up about respect this and respect that, you have to earn that shit" Luffy was lecturing the mountains bandit, who was quick to recover slamming Luffy into the ground and stepping on his neck, while hovering his sword over the kid, but even though he should have been scared out his mind, Luffy had a wide wicked grin on his face before bursting into laughter
"HAHAHAHAHA‼ your face… HAHAHAHA… hey dad did you see his face…HAHAHAHA… you were as blue as the ocean, are you certain you're a real mountain bandit…HAHAHAHAHAHA" he couldn't stop and some of the pirates were joining in making the leader of the mountain bandits red in the face with embarrassment and with steam coming out of his ears.
"you guys kill all one of them nobody laughs at me!" he yelled but before they could move the pirates where on them, all of them yelling at Luffy.
"You're so stupid Luffy" "but you have to give it to him, it was a funny face" "only Shanks kid could be so brave or stupid"
They where quick to dispatch all the grunts and were slowly starting to fall back into their happy mood, before they had a look around, with Shanks wide eyed and slack jawed.
"You fools he got away, and he still got Luffy!"
… meanwhile at the docks…
The mountain bandit leader was quickly trying to untie a boat, with Luffy tied up behind him.
"HA! Those fool will never guess that a mountain bandit would go out to seas, and you brat will pay for all their crimes, I'll make sure of that, and after I've gathered a new group I will make all them pay, no one disrespect me, I've got 8 million berris on my head you know"
He had finally succeeded in untying the boat and turned around to grab Luffy but was stopped cold in his tracks quickly palling. While he had been monologuing Luffy had freed himself from the crappy bindings, a skill he had to learn with a dad likes his and had taken the gun from the back pocket of the bandit, pointing it at his head with both his on the gun and his fingers on the trigger.
"now now kid, you don't want to get hurt, why don't I just leave you here and go on my merry way" he said with a nervous smile on his face, looking at the kid who couldn't be older than 7 or 8 with a wicked grin on his face.
"my dad thought me never to draw a weapon unless you intended to use it" Luffy said with his grin slowly becoming wider and the bandit's eyes widening.
…Together with the pirates and Shanks…
Shanks was going out his skin trying to figure out where the bandit had taken his little kid, before a gunshot could be heard from the docks. Shanks was quick to react, a murderous glare plastered on his face and unknowingly sending out a wave of haki, which made most of the villagers faint. Before anyone could react, he had taken of running towards the docks at an inhuman speed leaving his crew behind with worry in their eyes.
When he finally arrived, he found Luffy standing over the corpse of the bandit with a smoking gun and blood splattered all over his clothes and face. What shocked Shanks the most about the scene was not the corpse with a gunshot wound through the eye socked, but his son standing with a wide wicked grin on his face, but Shanks was quick to notice that Luffy was shaking all over and had tears streaming out of his eyes. Shank brought his son into a hug with tears in his own eyes over the fear of losing his son.
All throughout the villages as the villagers was waking up again confused over why they had fainted, the could all hear the cry from dock coming from the little kid they had all worried about.
Shanks just let his son scream into his shoulder his son had to let out all the fear and sorrow over taking a life for the first time.
"You did good Luffy, you did nothing wrong, there is nothing wrong in taking a life to protect, you have to remember that" Shanks was telling his son in his arms while petting his head, and Luffy just nodding into his shoulders.
…A couple of days later…
"so your finally leaving old man"
"yeah… but this time it's going to be for a lot longer" Shanks said while looking with sympathy at his son, who was scowling at him
"good grief then I don't have to see your ugly mug"
"shishishishi, you know you look a lot like me" Shanks said which made Luffy gasp in horror, before hammering his hand into the ground while crying
"OI THAT'S INSULTING!"
"HAHAHA, just messing with ya old man… I'm gonna miss you" Luffy stated which shocked Shanks
"but I'm still going to surpass you old man, and the next time we see each other I might already be pirate king, and then I'm going to steal your favorite hat, hehehe" Luffy said with a wide smile
"hmmm I'm going to see it before I believe it stupid brat, but alright if you really can surpass me and steal my hat I'm going to admit your better than me…. But it's never going to happen bleeeh" Shank said while sticking out his tongue at Luffy
"AAAH‼ you always underestimate me, I'm going to show you I'll get a better crew than you, more women, more treasure, a better ship… and I'm going to get grandpa to train me" he finished with a smug grin
"shit that's cheating you little fucker"
"HAHAHAHA like I care stupid old man"
Shanks just smiled at his son and that big goofy grin that seemed to be almost stuck to his face now, he quickly messed with Luffy's hair before boarding his ship with the rest of his crew setting of for the grand line. In the distance the villagers could be seen waving goodbye with Luffy at the front. All the villagers slowly left one by one leaving only Luffy behind long into the night with a grin still on his face.
"I'm going to be the pirate king" Luffy whispered out into the ocean a promise to no one in particular but himself.
