Temperence stood in the hotel room's bathroom, looking at her appearance in the mirror. She and Seely were going undercover as a newly-engaged couple, and they'd bought some clothes at one of Las Vegas' trendiest stores. With their disguise, they hoped to be able to crack an illegal fight club ring and solve the mystery of two bodies found in the Nevada desert. But the clothes they'd packed just hadn't seemed right, and they'd had a good time shopping together. Temperence had been impressed that Seely actually didn't seem to mind shopping, but had made it a fun adventure.
But now she was unsure of herself. At first, she'd started out in a long-sleeved black dress with a skirt that reached to her ankles. Upon her exit from the bathroom, Seely had scowled, telling her she looked like a school marm; a spinster. Handing her a bag, he instructed her to put on the dress he'd picked out. Of course, it was a little black number; the skirt shorter, the neckline more revealing. Temperence had been dubious, but standing in front of the mirror, she suddenly felt seductive, sexy and alive. Maybe she should dress like this more often. Checking her bright red lipstick once more, she exited the bathroom. Seely was sitting on the bed, tying his shoes.
"How's this?" Temperence asked, and Seely looked up.
The expression on his face was priceless. His jaw dropped and his dark brown eyes travelled over her slim form, now hugged by the
little black dress.
"Wow," was all Seely could manage to say.
His mouth had gone suddenly dry, and he couldn't keep his eyes off his friend. Being used to seeing Bones everyday in a lab coat and slacks, the dress was definitely an improvement.
"So you approve?" she asked, stepping closer, her hair brushing her shoulders.
Seely grinned.
"Hell yeah," he said, and stood up, holding out his arm.
"I wouldn't mind if you dressed like this more often," he told her as she linked her hand in the crook of his elbow.
"I don't see how anyone walks in these shoes," she responded, as her ankle turned in the black high heels she wore.
"You look fine," Seely said, and began to walk toward the door.
The dress seemed to do wonders for Temperence, and Seely couldn't belive how she flirted shamelessly with him as they walked down the hotel's carpeted hall way. Her hair was loose, and the red lipstick seemed to perk up her entire countenence. When they reached the lobby of the hotel, Seely flung his arm around Temperence's shoulders, bringing her close against his side. Lowering his head, Seely spoke in a low whisper, his face close to hers.
"What say we have us a nice dinner out tonight, sweetheart?" He asked, mimicking the deep, rich voice of Humphrey Bogart.
Temperence smiled saucily, her eyes dancing with laughter.
"Perhaps," she said, and flicked her tongue over her lower lip in an unconsiously seductive gesture.
Seely looked at her in surprise. The get up she was wearing was bringing out a side in Temperence he'd never seen before and he found he liked it. Alot.
"Then it's a date, sweetheart," he said, but his voice trembled with a sudden desire to sweep the pretty woman into his arms and carry her back to the room.
But Seely knew what Temperence would think about that, and with a deep breath, he pushed the thought out of his mind. Tipping his hat, he led her out the door.
"I hope you're hungry, Bones," he said, his voice back to normal.
"Because I like to have very nice dinners with pretty girls."
He kept his eyes forward, daring not to look at her right then, and Tempest grinned in pure pleasure at the compliments he was pouring on her.
"In that case," she said,
"I'm suddenly very hungry for lobster."
