The welcoming feast was growing tiresome, the first years had been unusually twittering and enthusiastic, the sorting was done and all that remained was for Minerva, the new and rightly appointed headmistress of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry to make an encouraging speech about the exciting year to come and the merits of academia. Severus sighed, it had already been an exhausting year and classes had not yet begun. He shifted slightly, the great hall was too warm and there had, as always, been far too much food, pomp and circumstance for his liking; and the announcement that the tri wizard cup had not only made its worrisome comeback but would be hosted by Hogwarts this year was all too much for the newly appointed Defence Against the Dark Arts professor. All he wanted was to retire to his chambers with a glass of fire whiskey and a tome.
Minerva completed her speech by announcing new staff positions, his own as DADA professor, Professor Slughorn would remain on as potions master, and following the retirement of Professor Babbling, the niece of none other than their very own Professor Trelawney would be taking over the position of Ancient Runes. Rowen Trelawney had been a student of his around the time of one of the older Weasley brothers. A Ravenclaw who bore little semblance to her aunt outside of her seemingly endless spirals of hair, and apparent abilities as a seer which, if rumors were to be believed actually existed, unlink those of her aunt. Although ambivalent toward her during her time as a student at Hogwarts, Severus hoped not to have too many direct interactions with her, as he found her aunt insufferable and could only imagine she had grown up to be simmerly irksome.
As Severus was making his long anticipated escape to the damp safety of the dungeons, a voice called out his name behind him, he turned suddenly and saw before him Rowen Trelawney. "Professor Snape" she exclaimed slightly out of breath, presumably from the slight jog she likely would had to have broken into in order to catch up with his strides. "I'm glad I caught you before you left, I was just suggesting to Professor Flitwick that perhaps we should have a meeting, to discuss your lesson plans for this term. So I can teach the appropriate Runology to my students" Snape was surprised by this, it had occurred to him that there was indeed some crossover between his newly appointed subject and Ancient Runes, and yet editing the syllabus to allow for such things, and therefore perhaps having the Dunderheads better informed and less likely to annoy him did not. "Very well" he responded, "I presume you remember where my office is and which hours I keep, feel free to stop in when it is covenant for you to do so." She smiled and nodded, "I shall, and congratulations on your new post Professor, oh, and watch out for falling objects" her voice and figure melting into the sea of robes before him. Falling objects, Severus sneered, any growing respect he may have had for her following her syllabus suggestion had quickly been dismissed following her revelation. Never the less, upon reaching his chambers and making his way through a second fire whiskey. Severus began reviewing this terms lessons and making notes where they may be some need for Professor Trelawney the younger to assist within her own lessons.
