Another prompt from Tumblr I was asked to write;
Tifa and Cloud agreeing to switch characters for the whole week to prove which one is harder. Tifa says her role is, and Cloud says his role is very much harder. The reward for the bet is a week ob being the other's servant.
"Ha! I'd like to see you try—"
Tifa Lockhart's words were cut short when she suddenly had an idea. For the past half an hour, she and Cloud had been having one of their famous verbal brawls in the middle of the kitchen about who lead the harder life now that all their troubles had melted away and they were finally a family and everything was normal. They had normal jobs and no hero status to worry about anymore. Everything was finally at ease.
However when Cloud came in one night and started complaining about a delivery and Tifa complained about a customer that she had had earlier that day, an argument ensued of who had the harder job. A smirk graced her lips as she folded her arms. "Fine, lets see whose job is harder. You be me for a week, cook and clean, take care of the children, work at the bar and help with the delivery slips and I will go out and do your deliveries. I can drive Fenrir, it isn't that hard. Loser has to be winners servant for a full week. This swap also has to last a week. What do you say?"
The blonde warrior glowered at her as his lips curled into a pout. "You're on, I can stay here for a week and keep everything together, I have to say good luck to you though."
Returning his glare with her own, she threw the apron in his face and shoved past him proceeding to start as soon as possible.
The blonde warrior stood there with his mouth open agape as he placed the scrunched up apron on the kitchen countertop slowly, his mind racing as he tried to think of what to do next; he knew there was a lot of upsides and downsides to her job but he was just too stubborn to look past his own and appreciate hers. No sooner had he just seen her disappear up the stairs, she was now storming out the door with a parcel in her hand. The revving of Fenrir made him go pale. She had better be careful with him.
During the week, the two of them went through the trials and the tribulations that the other had to endure for a hard week at work; both were too stubborn to admit it but they were both struggling doing the opposite. However, it was wearing on Cloud a whole lot more than Tifa. He wasn't happy with the extremely late nights of working at the bar and having to be forcibly sociable only to have to wake up at a ridiculous hour in the morning to get the children up and ready for school and sort out their packed lunches for the day. Of course due to his delivery job, he was used to waking up early, it was just the late night which were killing him and being such a private person and having to make conversation and talk to the kids every second he was with them was beginning to stress him out, a lot.
Tifa on the other hand was enjoying getting out in the fresh air and meeting new people day in, day out, however, as much as she loved it, she did miss the comfort of home after being on the road for so long in her younger days a few years back, she had begun to settle down with a family at home and that was what she was mainly comfortable doing.
After sitting down at the end of the week to talk to each other, they both (Cloud being reluctant to admit defeat) agreed that Tifa had the hardest job. A sarcastic smirk graced her features as she took a side glance towards him.
"Well now, my servant, isn't this going to be fun?"
