Two mischievous brown eyes, belonging to a teenage male about 17 years old, glanced around the tent, looking for some sign of his friend. His unruly brown hair stuck up almost straight in the air, with a few strands coming down over his eye. But he didn't care at this point; his friend had disappeared, and he wanted to know where she was.

The tent's entrance opened, revealing a girl around 16 years of age, with beautiful blue eyes and long, blonde hair. The boy turned to face her, seemingly very interested in what she was doing.

"Colette," the boy said, tilting his head. "What took you so long?"

"I'm sorry, Lloyd," the girl replied. "I was out looking for something."

"You don't have to apologize for it," the boy, named Lloyd, said. "It's not your fault anyway."

"Yeah, you're right," the girl, named Colette, said. "I'm sorry."

Lloyd looked exasperated for a brief moment, but then stepped over to Colette, taking her hand and lifting it. He had just happened to pick the hand that was holding something.

Carefully, he turned her hand over and peered curiously at it. She opened her hand, revealing a beautifully crafted stone of a faint pinkish color, shaped like a heart.

"Who made this?" Lloyd asked, his curiosity taking control.

"I did," Colette replied, smiling. "I was taught how to craft that stone by the angels of Cruxis when I was younger. I'm not as good at it as my father, though..." she sighed.

"Wow," Lloyd said, his tone ever so slightly awed. "It's beautiful. I never knew you could do this..."

"It's... for you," Colette said, slowly turning her hand over and emptying the item into Lloyd's.

"Thanks, Colette," the young swordsman said, turning ever so slightly pink.

He was careful to stow it away in a very safe place; he did not want to lose the item in any way. But his hand remained on Colette's.

"I have something I want to give to you as well," Lloyd said, his free hand drifting away slowly.

"What's that?" Colette asked, her own curiosity piqued.

Lloyd slowly drew a necklace from his pocket; it was most beautifully crafted, built in a way only he could devise. The pendant was a heart, made of pure gold, and shining in the dim light from the lamp.

Colette's expression turned to one of sheer joy as Lloyd carefully placed the necklace round her neck, and she reached up to touch the pendant once it was on.

"Thank you so much," Colette said quietly, drawing Lloyd into an embrace.

"It was my pleasure," Lloyd said, smiling. "It was... for love of you."

She kissed him softly on the lips before breaking away and heading to her bed. However, even in her sleep, she refused to remove the necklace.

Lloyd saw this, and watched over her until his own desire for rest took control of him. He climbed into bed next to her, simply enjoying her warmth.
