The benders
Disclaimer! I do not own the legend of Korra, the last airbender, or any of the characters in the aforementioned series.
Hey guys! I realise that almost nobody knows me. Understandably, a poorly written story, that hasn't been updated in six months, would not attract much attention. I'm going to try another story, please guys! I'll love anyone who leaves a review. Flames, criticism, they are all welcomed. Be as nasty as you want, just leave a review. Forgive the tone of desperation, but I would really appreciate a review. Just a single review will do for now.
The beginning
It was a cold, windy Friday. The peaceful atmosphere of a city, just beginning to rise from its slumber, was broken by loud, incessant crying. In a hospital, a mother had just given birth to a baby boy. As the baby continued to wail and scream, the doctor and nurses carried out the routine checks on the mother and baby. Both were pronounced healthy and ready to go home. As soon as the new mother and her child stepped out of the hospital, they were greeted by the cold bite of the icy wind. The woman was a firebender. Carefully holding her precious child in one arm, she created a small flame. Her finger was a candle radiating warmth and love to the child. She noticed the boy deviating towards the flame, but thought nothing of it. After all, anyone, even a baby, would go towards any heat they could find in the bitter cold of the early morning. She went home. "Home" was a small shack near the sewers. After giving her boy some milk, she put him to sleep. She was weary and tired. Her husband was an earthbender who was almost never home. She had to live with the smell of the sewers always lingering in the air. Her life was no fairy-tale, but at this moment, all she felt was the indescribable happiness of a new mother.
Three years passed. The baby had grown into a toddler. His mother named him Blaze. It seemed as if his name had provoked his ability to firebend. His mother began to train him. She started with the important step of breath control. Blaze was a prodigy, learning the basics by the age of five. Things were looking up for the family. Blaze's father had been accepted into the metal-bending police in Republic City. The family moved into a better house. They were happy and content with their life. Blaze continued practicing his firebending in a friendly and pressure-free atmosphere. Firelord Zuko occasionally visited the city he had founded and made sure order was preserved. Times were good
