Notes: This is a slash fic. If you do NOT enjoy reading about guy on guy relations, please do not read this and then flame me telling me how sick and twisted I am. I know this and am proud of it. For those of you who DO enjoy reading about guy on guy relations, please disregard this note. Love.

You stalk slowly through the Stark Expose, keeping dutifully to Bucky's shadows.

If someone had come along – come along just as the girl glares at you for daring to offer her popcorn, and tapped you on the shoulder and whispered in your ear that Stark would not only be playing a very large part in your future as a soldier – but also comes as close to being your first true love as a man could in the 1940s, you would've referred them to a hospital.

If that someone had continued on to say that you would only fall in "love" with Peggy because you were afraid of what falling head-over-heels for Howard Stark would mean for not only your health and career, but his as well – you probably would've hit them.

And if that someone had continued on to say that not only was Howard-freaking-Stark going to be the love you could never have, but seventy years from now so would his son, you probably would've ran away.

You stalk slowly through the Stark Expose, keeping dutifully to Bucky's shadows. And when Howard Stark danced out onto the stage, you couldn't look away.

End.
