And to think... that maybe... someone could have loved her. What was she thinking? Really? Could she have been any stupider?
Apparently not.
She rubbed her arms in the cold, her eyes narrowed. She was mentally beating herself up. Someone born in fire... now abandoned in the snow. She laughed, the sound filled with sorrow. Could this have been any more iconic?
Leave the safety of the flames, only to be thrust into the snow... cold and unloved. Why did she have to be so dumb? She should've seen this coming...
Artemis sighed softly, and continued trudging through the snow, her eyes filled with tears. Her body was starting to cool down... which wasn't good at all... being a fire dragon wasn't helping her cause either. She shuddered, the ice had made her feet numb, her hands were aching...
She started to breathe faster, the panic beginning to set in. She didn't know where she was, where she was going, nor whom to call for help... she'd abandoned everyone for him.
Then he'd abandoned her.
She couldn't shift... not with the weight in her chest and the cold overcoming her senses. No... she would die here, it seemed...
She blew hot air on her hands and kept walking, eyes half closed. She was exhausted, and everything ached...
Where was she to go?
No one would answer... she'd been such a bitch to them all...
The Siberian woods weren't helping her thought process, the trees seemed to watch her faltering progress with some amusement. Only the strongest survived here... and this young dragon was failing their test quite miserably. She was too sorrowful... she wouldn't last the night.
She raised her eyes to the darkening sky...
"Why did I leave all of you?" she asked softly, her voice loud in the stillness. "Why did I have to be so stupid?" she found that her right knee no longer wanted to support her the hard way she went down. She didn't bother moving from that spot... the ice suddenly felt good...
She closed her eyes, and let her consciousness slip.
