Could I Be You Tonight

"...My god! One of these days I will get the silly OneShots outta my head and update an actual story :) in the meantime, enjoy!"

"Spencer, this place is great1' Abbey squealed. "It's not to quiet, not to loud. A perfect blend of techno and modern-day cafes.'

"When I heard about their grand opening I thought you might like the place." Reid smiled. "To be honest, I thought I wouldn't like it, but I think I like it more than you do." Reid admitted.

"Oh really? Why do you say that?" Abbey asked mischievously. Reid motioned to the large wood object in front of him-where his ever-moving hands were sliding back and forth. "The piano?" she asked. "Why the piano?"

"Most cafes don't have an open piano like this one, and it gives me an excuse to play again. I haven't for about six years now." Reid explained. "And besides, I miss playing for people. It really made my mom happy when I was growing up. I would play he favorite songs for her, and it would normally be enough to calm her down."

Abbey smiled at the look of content that crossed her boyfriend's pale face. "Play me a song- one of my favorites." she suggested.

"Hmm...I accept the challenge." he grinned. "I'm thinking Jack's Mannequin or Matchbox 20. Take your pick."

"Matchbox 20; Jack's Mannequin has too much piano influence already in it."

"Ah, good choice." Reid mumbled as his fingers started a new pattern of notes. Abbey almost immediately recognized the beat.

"Well now you're laughing out loud." Abbey started singing. "At just the thought of being alive. And I was wondering, could I just be you tonight?"

"Come on- sing with me!" she cheered.

"But I'm playing it!" Reid whined back.

"Oh, don't be such a wimp. It will be fun- I promise." Reid just rolled his eyes, and he continued the song.

"You show the pain like it really hurts." Abbey started up.

"And I can't even start to feel mine." they both sang-laughing between lines.

By this point, everyone who dared came out to the streets of Washington at an hour to midnight to the new cafe had their attention on the duo.

"And now you're laughing out loud, at just the thought of being alive. And I was wondering, could I just be you tonight?" Reid struck the last chord out of the piano as he gave Abbey a small kiss on the cheek.

"Thank you." she whispered to Reid.

"I think we should go home now." Reid smiled back.

"I think that's a good idea."

Abbey pulled on Reid's arm as they both giggled their way out of the small place they had had so much fun at.

"Aw, young love." the manager sighed as she cleaned off another table.

An older married couple across the table shared youthful smiles as they had watched the scene that Abbey and Reid had made. "Brings back memories." the older lady said.

"Yeah-sure does." her old lover whispered. "It sure does..."

"...Just a little OneShot that came to me. The song was Could I Be You Tonight by Matchbox Twenty. I highly recommend that band! Pleaz R&R!"
