The Game
By: Athens Eternal Maiden
I take a breath for the final time
In my last moments, I have committed the ultimate crime
Off the pedestal you once sat upon, you now fall
When you were once held in high esteem, your name is now hated by all
I have ripped from you your fame
But, can't you see? This was all a game
I looked on from the shadows, pouncing in the dark. You didn't even have time to try and stop me
But, in the end, it was just a little game. Can't you see?
I made a move, and you made one too
And, I think we can all see who has lost our little game: you.
Every day before was dull and the same
Until I began to play our Great Game
But, you can't judge a book by its cover, so I've been told
And that I learned to be true with you; our game did soon grow old
The game once gave me a new meaning; a yin to my yang
In my final moment, I shall end it with a bang
With my phantom smile I shall end
Our little game; good riddance, my friend.
