Prelude to A Kiss:
He leaned in, intoxicated by that sweet yet faint scent of vanilla that always seemed to follow her. She smiled softly at his slight uncertainty. It was amusing to see her boss who never doubted his ability to make decisions with a hint of hesitation in his demeanor.
This was against the rules and they both knew it. He was her employer and they were crossing a line by doing this. But in their minds and hearts, nothing could have seemed more right. They were in the blind spot of that floor, there were no security cameras that would catch them.
She had been walking through the corridor down to the Registry to pick up some files on yet another suspect of terrorism when he approached her from behind and stopped her. Silence had descended upon them and all they could do was stare at each other.
The papers now lay forgotten on the cold floor. She had backed up against a wall and he was leaning so close to her that each could hardly stand it. As the seconds slowly ticked by, emotion began to appear in his normally hard eyes. It was love. It brought tears to her eyes, she found someone who loved her. The same emotion was reflecting off her own eyes as well.
He was so close. When their lips met in a gentle kiss, she suddenly felt as if a great vicelike grip had been lifted from her soul that had been there since Danny's death. All the pain and despair, all the heartache and loneliness disappeared as they kissed.
It was at that moment in time when they both realized that sometimes, only one person is necessary to make a moment special.

A/N: My first fic... Please don't be harsh in reviews! Any flames will be put into a huge fire to roast marshmallows with.
