AN: It should be noted that this is also on tumblr and AO3 if you want to find it there, also under the same name

"The Ouran Education Institute is a safe harbour for wolf kind."

The words were spat onto the table with disgust, pure hatred lacing their tone. It was a rage mirrored in the eyes of the community seated around the wooden platform, a disdain for the creatures which had evolved to disguise themselves among the members of another species. The man who had voiced the accusation stared around the people surrounding him, daring anyone to challenge his declaration.

"We know that." An old woman, her skin crinkled into numerous folds formed through age, placated the young adult. "We know that, but we have no proof"

"And even if we did." Another older member of the party, a male with half-moon spectacles, scowled. "Even if we did, the government has declared peace with the canis lupus bloodlines."

Indeed, only four years ago the United Nations of the world had come together and decided that, after over 600 years of uninterrupted peace between their species and their mimickers -who had, in the meantime, successfully integrated themselves into the human working population- it would be unfair to continue to prosecute their existence with death. Interest groups breathed a sigh of relief as their loud voices, which had for so long demanded just and fair treatment of the human race's supposed 'equals', faded into a mere whisper in modern society.

Canis members still refused to reveal themselves, however.

There was disgusted noises around the table, and one or two members even hissed and spat in disgust as they remembered the horrific day that peace was declared. Further discussion was had, until the party departed with a unifying goal in mind- gather more firm, solid proof. And thus, the meeting of the Hunters was adjourned.

The hunter community firmly believed all extensions of the canis lupus species needed to be eliminated, immediately. The community was an international one, with particularly large extensions over in the North America's, Australia and Europe. The smallest subsections could be found in New Zealand and Japan, but the hunters had still managed to worm their ways into the most accepting of communities. After all, this was a dominant species of predator whose DNA, under the heavy mental and physical strain of the first wolf trials in Switzerland in 1428, had allowed them to take human form at will. As soon as this transformation was triggered in the first pup of the next generation, all pups afterwards would also gain this ability thanks to a trait scientist's called cultural transmission. Some other offshoots of the canis line also achieved this ability to transform, but mostly the evolution stayed within the canis lupus line- more commonly known as wolves.

Over 500 humans had died during these trials, but by the time the biological lock was undone, thousands among thousands of wolves perished under the suspicious eye of the human race. Few remained of any subspecies, but those who did banded together and formed tight-knit community's to help hide one another away from the paranoid gaze of the global governments. Other canis who had endured the same evolution were often seen as inferior among the wolf society, and often they elected to live life entirely as a domesticated pet or as an independent human without submerging themselves into the wolf society. There are some typically domestic breeds, however, which have climbed the rungs of the wolf society; one such example is Sinon Aadhey, an Alaskan Malamute-Siberian Husky hybrid, who is now holds a major influence over all international standards of communication and transportation.

As the wolf society, still hidden away from the government's eyes, quickly climbed the rungs of human society as well, hence Ouran Academy soon came into formation.

Ouran High School- a playground for the remaining wolves of the world. One of many institutions around the world, this academy hosts and educates the children of the wolf packs of Japan, rendering Tokyo as neutral grounds. It provides an environment where the young wolves do not feel pressured to hide their genes, instead teachers promote awareness of ones heritage, while still encouraging a love of human forms.

Despite being exclusively for wolves, Ouran High is an esteemed establishment, known for producing students with high placements in society. A classic Japanese school, it requires at least money, status or high grades for entrance, as well as the requirement of wolf family.

The last requirement is difficult for the school board to disguise, in a world where wolves are considered to be extinct, or at least extremely endangered after excessive hunting for centuries. However, after much deliberation, the board have found an efficient way of masking the criteria from authorities. No one's quite sure what the technique is, but it's heavily believed that an agreement between the Ootori and Souh families is involved.

Most of the school's set up is identical to that of an other esteemed school. However, in the middle of the school grounds, between the four buildings, is a large enclosure. Varied environments are encased inside; a large forest in the middle separates a carefully sustained tundra from a hilly plain. It's believed a small desert lays in the middle of the forest area, however most student's don't bother to go in that far.
