Author's note: One of those random late-night fics… Yes, I wrote this at about 10 o'clock at night. Double song inspiration: I had Stars by Switchfoot stuck in my head, & I was listening to in the moonlight from Gravitation.
Anyway. I do not own Furuba or any of the characters. They belong to Natsuki Takaya.

Stars
By Kusabi

Staring up into the sky, Kyo gave a deep sigh. The night sky was like a remedy for him. As he stared up at the stars, all of the pains of the day drained out of him. It was a private therapy.
"You're up here again, Kyo?"
He looked over to see Tohru staring over at him. Kyo was quite used to this by now. Increasingly, she'd come up to visit him. When she first moved in, it would only be every so often. Now, a year later, it was nearly every day.
"Do you really need to ask that?" He smiled at her.
"I guess not," she laughed, sitting down next to him. Looking him in the eyes, a thought popped into her head. "Say…"
"Hrm?"
Tohru let out a small sigh. "It's been a year, and I can't believe I haven't asked you exactly why you come up here, especially so late at night.
Kyo blinked twice. He hadn't really expected her to ask that. "Well," he began. "Just look up at the stars. Aren't they amazing?"
She smiled warmly. "Yes, they are. I guess I didn't realize how much you liked them."
"Yeah! They're great, just staring at them can take your pain away." He stopped. Did I really just say that to her?
"You're such a deep thinker, Kyo."
Turning slightly red, he turned away. "Heh, not really."
Tohru grabbed his arm. "But you are! You're amazing, Kyo, no matter if you say you are or not."
Shocked, he looked down at her. He noticed just how pretty she looked in the moonlight. The feelings he knew he held for her began to rise up in him.
"You…" he said, smiling. On an impulse, he leaned in and gently kissed her. Neither of them had expected him to do so. Though they were both shocked, they were both so happy.
Their lips parted after a few moments. Tohru half expected the sun to be rising by now, as it felt like an eternity to her. She smiled at him.
"Kyo…"
"Hey, you better go get some sleep," he told her. This was just typical of him, not knowing what to say in this kind of moment. She found it rather cute. "I don't want you to get ill just because you stayed up too long with me."
Giggling, Tohru began to stand up. "Okay then. See you in the morning."
"Good night," Kyo called softly after her. "I love you…"
She didn't hear his last statement, but he was hoping that she had figured that one out anyway.
