Chapter One: One Shot: Ashes

Beginning during "Bad Wolf," The Doctor realizes his love for Rose amidst his grief. Yet The Bad Wolf will soon appear. What will happen to Rose, Nine, Jack, and The Bad Wolf itself? First three one shots previously part of Grieving series, now moved into this story.
Her eyes will stay with him, full of happiness, fear, and life, all at once. A life cut short and ended before him. Her reached out to where she had stood and fell down upon her ashes. He let the ashes run between his fingers, remembering the light that burned brightly in his own life – light whose source was Rose Tyler herself.
He felt this once before in Utah, 2012. The Dalek killed her, and her last words to him were meant to relieve his inevitable guilt. She wouldn't trade the life she had with him for anything. He would trade everything for her.
Now he would. First, he'd bring everyone responsible for murdering Rose to justice – by his own hand. Then he would take Jack with him and together they would violate some of the rules of the Time Lords. He was the last of them anyway, and now it was time to make his own rules. He would track down Adam and find out who qualified him to work for Van Statten in Utah. Then the Doctor would tarnish Adam's record so that he would never get to work for Van Statten. Rose would be with him instead of Adam when she faced the Dalek. He would use the Dalek to trace the other ones. They would never go to Satellite Five – then or now.
Rose would live. He'd do domestic. Time Lord taboos had to be broken. Rose would live.
