The dusk sun drew pink and orange colors across the early morning sky reflection against the calm ocean. Two figures walked along the sand stopping just before the waves could catch their feet.

Jamie observed the calm beach with a soft smile turning to his friend. "Why can't we do this in the pool again?"

"Because little brother it's not the same resistance cmon rookie," Danny teased stripping until he wore only swim trunks. Shaking his head Jamie did the same taking a step closer letting out an involuntary shiver at the cold water.

Danny walked right in making no reaction to the coldness against his bare skin. "Cmon I don't have all day," he called behind him waiting until Jamie caught up to start laps with his brother.

Engrossed in their lesson neither officer noticed the two women both curly blond hair falling shoulder length. Eddie stopped realizing they weren't alone on the beach watching with a shake of her head at the grown men playing in the water.

"Hey aren't you a little old to be playing in the water," she called catching their attention. Jamie stood up his bare chest glowing with water. Their eyes met for a split second allowing Jamie to see how beautiful she was. She wore a pink strapless sun dress that rounded on her curves. He didn't recognize her from the neighborhood.

Danny started back towards the women studying them quickly. "For your information we're training as part of the police department."

The blond woman raised an eyebrow at him crossing her arms against her chest intrigued. Coming from a country club background Eddie never met a cop face to face although she's always been interested in law. "Yea so let's see."

With a shrug of his shoulders Danny led Jamie back into the deeper water teaching his brother self defense if he ever got in a situation he and he perp fell into a body of water.

Eddie watched with deep concentration as the brothers practiced, turning her eyebrows upside down when they came back. "Yea that was it? Are you really cops?"

As proof Danny reached into the clothes he discarded showing off his shield. "A Detective actually my brother here is a cop."

Eddie's eyes averted to Jamie meeting for the second time that afternoon before turning to her friend. "We better go, my father is expecting up back."

Jamie's gaze followed her as she and her friend walked down the sand. Danny watched for a minute with a shake of his head turning to his brother catching Jamie watching her. "Hey, don't waste your time with her kid, those country club girls are all snobs."

With their audience gone Danny brought his brother's attention back to work with an elbow suggesting a run in the sand. Throwing their clothes back on they ran laps along the sand until both panted calling it a day.

Danny drove back to their childhood house in Bay Ridge where his father and grandfather still live. " Dad? Grandpa?"

Henry shuffled in greeting his grandsons with a warm smile. "Hey how was the beach? "

Danny helped himself to two water bottles, throwing one to Jamie chugging half before answering. "Not bad. I'm gonna shower and head to the precinct though, next day off we'll go run okay kid?"

Walking by Danny patted Jamie's shoulder heading upstairs to shower before work. Jamie brushed the top of his water bottle with a finger thinking about that girl they met.

Henry caught the faraway gaze in his grandson's eyes smiling recognizing the same one when he saw his Betty for the first time. "Who is she Jamie?"

"Who grandpa?"

Henry replied with a smile ushering the younger man to sit with him. "The girl cmon Jamie I know that look so who is she?"

Jamie laughed slightly at his grandfather's ability to sense when someone was withholding information even though he tired years ago.

"I don't know I never got her name but she's from the country club, that's all I know."

"Ah one of those. Jamie let me give you some advice in my experience those girls don't usually go for us civil servants. They're what we used to call rich money meaning it's passed down from parents to their children. Girls like that are usually spoken for who they're going to date."

Jamie nodded pretending to open his water bottle and take a sip to hide his disappointment."I know grandpa she was pretty that's all. Guess I'm just missing Syd I don't know."

Jamie sighed wondering what his ex fiancé was doing in Paris after breaking up with him.

"Your better off without her Jamie don't look so hard because she'll find you when your not looking. Your probation is up learn as much as you can from Sgt Renzulli and guarantee the right girl will find you."

Jamie nodded hearing his grandfather's words but that didn't stop him from thinking about that girl.

With Henry bustling to get done so he could go out Jamie headed back to his apartment. Changing his clothes quickly Jamie sat on the couch turning the television on to some show. With the tv watching him Jamie leaned back letting his mind wander to the girl.

He arrived promptly at work the next day with a two thousand watt smile. "Morning Sgt," he greeted his training officer and current partner.

"Hey kid you look happy today what's going on?"

Jamie shrugged his shoulders as he opened his locker to change the smile never leaving his face. Renzulli eyed Jamie the entire time sensing something was going on the kid wasn't telling him.

"What's with the goofy look kid?" Renzulli studied his partner's face with recognition. "Whose the girl?"

"How'd you know?"

Renzulli smiled slightly closing his own locker. "Cause I had the same look when I first saw my wife. So who is she?"

"I don't know her name we met at the beach down by the country club," Jamiw admitted reaching into his locker for his uniform.

Renzulli raised an eyebrow at him. "She's one of those stuck up country club girls?"

"Yea but she's amazing Sgt I mean she's smart mouthed but really pretty and not like the other girls from that club at all."

"Sounds like you really like her kid, So I hope it works it. Cmon superman let's go to work." Laughing Renzulli led him out to the RMP while Jamie sighed anxiously waiting for Thursday.
