A/N: Dedicated to my Ali.

Disclaimer: I own nothing.

OOOOOO

"How can you say that?!" Draco stormed, hands waving wildly as Harry clenched his fingers in the silk bed sheets.

"Because it's the truth," Harry said gently, begging his lover to understand.

"How can it be true? We used to hate each other! How can you say that this," Draco gestured between the two of them "this is love?"

"Its how I feel."

"But they're opposites. We're opposites. You're wrong."

"No. You are. We wouldn't be in love if we hadn't hated each other. It's like… like… you can't have a storm without calm first. Like you can't see light without dark. Like you don't truly appreciate peace without war. Like life means nothing without death. Like I'm not me without you. I couldn't love you with every fibre of my being without hating you so passionately before. It's how we work. And, without you needing to say it, I know you love me too."

Draco stood at the bottom of their bed, dumbfounded, hands hanging limply at his sides as Harry collapsed backwards onto the pillows, tears streaking down his face.

"I hated you, Dray, so now I can love you. It's like karma," Harry said to the ceiling "they balance each other out. Like we do."

There was silence as Harry continued to watch the candle light dancing across the ceiling.

"Are you going to say anything?"

There was no answer.

"Dray?"

Nothing.

Harry sat up to find the bedroom empty. The door was ajar and as Harry sat staring at it shock, he heard the front door slam. With a small sob, Harry crumpled sideways onto the bed, curling himself up into the foetal position, crying quietly into his arms.

OOOOOO

"Harry. Harry. Wake up."

Harry sat up slowly, realising that he must have fallen asleep some time during his crying.

Draco was sat on the edge of the bed, watching him warily.

"What do you want?" Harry demanded, trying to hold back the tears.

"I'm sorry. I had to leave. I needed to think. I'm so sorry. And before you yell at me and tell me to get lost, there's something I need to say. You are my storm and my calm, my light and my dark, my peace and my war. You are my life and lord knows you're probably going to be the death of me too. You are my everything."

Harry gave a strangled sort of sob and flung his arms round Draco's neck, burying his face in Draco's hair.

"Easy, Potter. I'm not finished yet," Draco said smiling lightly "as I was going to say before you interrupted: will you marry me?"

Draco reached into a pocket and pulled out a green velvet box.

"Merlin, Dray," Harry gasped as Draco popped open the box "you haven't even said you love me yet.

"Malfoy's never do things in the right order. Is that a yes?"

"Of course. Idiot. As if I'd say no to you," Harry said, grinning "you gonna put it on then?" he asked, wiggling his ring finger.

Draco obliged, slipping the silver band onto Harry's finger. Harry held it up to his eye to examine it for a moment before leaning forward and kissing Draco hungrily. As they broke apart Draco breathed three words gently against Harry's lips.

"I love you."

OOOOOO

A/N: Ick! Corny ending but oh well. What did you think.
