A/N: I saw this scene in Arkham Knight (Video Game) and I kinda saw how Catwoman just wanted him, but she had to accept what he was doing. I know their relationship is a little different from what I've written before, but I saw it fitting to the game, and wanted to write about Catwoman's emotions. Sorry if it gets a little OOC.

DISCLAIMER: I do not own Batman or Catwoman, and this is purely a fan work. It is only for entertainment purposes and I am making no money off this.

She followed him out to the Batmobile, where he was strapping Riddler to a seat before locking him inside. She took this moment as an opportunity to get a little something out of him, slinking close to him and pulling his face closer before he caught her arm.

"Play nice." He ordered.
"You're not playing at all." She replied.
"No, I'm not. Not anymore." He said, his tone rough and final.
"And what's that supposed to mean?" She asked him, clearly surprised by his choice of words.
He turned away from her, before answering in a voice that betrayed no emotion. "It means this is the end, Selina. It means we can't…I can't…" He trailed off.

Her heart raced from those words. What exactly did he mean? Sometimes, she'll admit, she couldn't take his constant "brooding" seriously, but this seemed different. Deciding to take a neutral path, she put her hand on his shoulder and asked, "I will see you again, right?"

What he said next shocked her. "No one will. Gotham needs something more, something worse… to defend her. She needs a new myth, a legend more powerful than I can be right now. A legend that can only rise from the ashes of the Batman." Again, his voice held no trace of emotion, just the usual dark and rough tones.

He took a few steps and she let her hand linger on his arm before taking his hand and facing him. She understood his implication, and what he was planning to do, but at the same time, she wished he wasn't so… hard on himself. He had saved Gotham so many times, and even right now, after Riddler's capture, all he could care about was Gotham. Why couldn't he let himself have a small break? Trailing her hand across his armor-clad chest, she looked him in the eyes and said, "Some things you can't do alone, Bruce", before leaning in and kissing him.

He responded to her, kissing her back and holding her closer before gently pushing her away. She was surprised by his actions, but continued to kiss him nonetheless.

"And some things you have to." He replied dejectedly, before turning around and heading towards the Batmobile.

Trying not to let any feelings affect her voice, she said, "Call if you need me."

He turned his head slightly towards her before gruffly replying, "I won't."

Even though she already knew he would say that, his reply hurt more than she thought. With the slightest hint of hurt and anger in her voice, she stated, "I know. I just wanted to say it."

She watched him drive off, and she knew, she should have been happy she at least got a kiss from him, but at the same time, she concluded that he didn't need her. Not in the way she did. Maybe he mistook her attraction for lust, but deep below all the seductive words and actions, she knew she needed him for something more than that. She laughed at the complication – it was a little cliché, and why hadn't she known the she was asking for too much when it came to him?

As the reality of the situation hit her, she realized that she would never see him again, and he would never know of how much she felt from him.

She mentally cursed herself for falling for him, even though she'd strayed away from romances with men all her life, and made her way to her apartment, fighting off bitter tears.
