Chapter 1
Beginnings
The world burned. It was hell upon Earth. The sound of screaming and yells echoed through the air. One lone boy walked along as the fire surrounded him. He was empty, as he had discarded everything he had in order to keep on going, surviving. He discarded his anger, sadness, fright, and much more. All of his memories disappeared. He kept on going until his burnt legs until they could not support him any more. So he lay there, dying.
Then, a face appeared. He had black hair and seemed to be wearing a suit. He was crying and smiling.
'I wish I could smile like that...' thought the boy.
Then all went dark.
The boy awoke in a bed, his eyes were a brilliant golden-brown and he had auburn hair. The black haired man sat next to his bed and read a book. All around him were other beds with children laying in them. Doctors and nurses bustled around trying to keep track of every child. One noticed that he was awake.
"Oh! You're are awake!" the doctor said.
The black haired man looked up at him and smiled ever so slightly, yet the boy couldn't help but notice it seemed empty and fake.
"Young man, what is your name?" the doctor asked.
The boy thought for a second before a name came to him.
"Shirou,"
"What about your family name?" replied the doctor.
Shirou concentrated, his face scrunched up.
"I can't remember,"
"Oh... I see," said the doctor./p
The doctor left to discuss something with another doctor, and the black haired man went to talk to them as well. After a while, the doctors returned as well as the black haired man.
"Listen Shirou, you most likely lost your memory due to what happened in the fire. We haven't found anyone who could be related to you, but this kind man has agreed to adopt you if you want, if not, you will be sent to an orphanage," said one doctor.
Shirou looked at the black haired man for a moment and said,
"I'll go with him,"
"Ok then, we will get adoption papers for you sire," said the doctor to the black haired man.
"Well, it seems that from now on, your name will be Shirou Emiya. My name is Kiritsugu. Also, by the way, I'm a Magus," said the black haired man.
