"Close your eyes. No peeking."
"Okay. When can I open my eyes?" Gwen asked, fidgeting.
"When I say you can," Lancelot replied.
He fiddled with the stems of the flowers, he's done this before, but it defiantly didn't mean that it was an easy thing to do. Lancelot wanted to make Gwen happy because today was her birthday, so he took her out to the flower field and was currently making her a flower crown. He finished it, it may have not been the best flower crown in the world, but it was good looking. Lancelot then plopped it on Gwen's head and then took one of her hands.
"Can I open my eyes now?" She said, trying to feel the object on her head. But her hand was lightly swatted away before she even got to touching it.
"Not yet. Just hold my hand and I'll guide you there, so you can see it," he said, helping her up and leading her to a lake.
They trudged through the flowers, grass and sticks, until they reached their location. Lancelot let go of her hand and made sure the wreath was not going to fall. It wasn't on completely secure, but it would do for now.
"Okay you can open your eyes now Gwen." He said.
Gwen opened her eyes and tilted her head down so the object would not fall off her head. It was a flower crown, but it wasn't just all the one colour or flower. There were daffodils, tulips, poppies, daisies and a gardenia in there. Gwen smiled and gave Lancelot a hug.
"Thank you, it's so pretty," she whispered in his ear.
"But that's not all." Gwen pulled out of the hug, when she realised he had not returned. He had his arms behind his back.
Then he pulled out a thornless rose, handed it to her, and then gave her a kiss on the cheek. "Happy Birthday, Gwen," he murmured in her ear, wrapping his arms around her.
Gwen returned the hug. Neither one of them wanted to move, or say anything. Both just wanted to savour the moment. Both pulled out of the hug and looked at the sky, the sun was starting to set; they figured they should get back home before it got dark and cold.
"Thanks for today, I really appreciated it," said Gwen, walking back the way they came.
"No problem, maybe we should hang out tomorrow, same place, same time?" replied Lancelot, following her.
"Yeah, that's sounds great."
