Shallow breathing, barely inhaling anymore, a man laid on a futon. He smiled, knowing he would not suffer from loneliness or broken heart for much longer.

He wore his finest clothing, a royal blue kimono he liked, a lighter colored haori. In his hands he held objects he had secretly adorned for decades. A book from his childhood, his finest quill and a picture of his most treasured one already long gone. Beside him laid his blade, broken like the man himself.

His fine long midnight raven locks were out of their normal bind, now hanging around his neck, falling on the silken bed sheets.

His breathing was growing more and more shallow, yet the smile stayed on his features. The sound of the night was quiet, not even a bird sang, the wind did not blow on the trees. There was nothing, not even the slightest sound of movement in the household was heard.

The raven haired man waited, he knew it was time to move away from this dimension, time to be reborn into a new life.

Candles flicked for a moment, the room felt suddenly much more colder and the raven could see his own breathing. He heard a ruffle, a shadow of someone nearing him and for a moment he thought he would be devoured by a creature of the darkness. Yet he did not move, he could not.

The shadow came closer, the candles flicked again, finally giving the raven a view of another man, almost see through. The smile on the raven's features widened, the joy was burning in his blue eyes again. If he would have had strenght he would have lifted his hand and beckoned the creature to come closer.

The other man stood there watching the other, hazel eyes looking intently into the blue ones and a rare smile was on the man's features again.

"Imma came ta fetch ya, been waitin' fer long time."

The raven smiled and nodded. He understood. He should have done this much sooner, not dwell in sadness and guilt for all these years. No other words were said, the candles flicked once more until the flame died and the room fell dark.

One last breath the raven let out until his eyes closed never to be open again. He was gone from this world and would walk with his beloved one towards another, to a new beginning and new life.

Together again, finally.
