As you probably have noticed, these drabbles are for original character I created few years ago. While I have not been writing for ff I have been keeping my muses alive elsewhere. This drabble was written more than a year ago.

A modern verse Hidehiro and a Sunday Dinner with his parents. Welcome to the Kuchiki family of today.

"…And then I believe we should organize a dinner party for the vicar. Then there are several charity programs we need to attend as well."

"Yes, Dear."

"Oh and when you get off from work next Friday, please remember that we have another visitation to the Museum of Fine Arts in the evening, we got an invitation from Ukitake Juushiro."

"Yes, Dear."

Blaablaablaa blaa blaablaa…

That was all Hidehiro heard. He sat down at the dinner table at his parents house like he

had done every Sunday for the past 28 years of his life. He sighed and played with the carrot on his plate. The tenderloin with cream sauce and potatoes did not taste good at all this time.

He poked the carrot another time and it seemed to be laughing at him. He sighed again.

Usually this event, having the Sunday dinner at his parents house was not a nuisance. He was used to listening his mother rambling about what ever charity work or dinner party she was going to attend. His father usually kept being quiet, allowing his wife to take over the conversations. It had been his routine for so long. The dinners were usually a quiet event only to meet, eat and greet. They also talked about what had happened during the week and just spend time as a family. Usually, that is. In the past few months the dinner's had become more lively when he had brought his companion with him.

"Oh Hidehiro, did you hear that your cousin Rukia got promoted? Oh, isn't it exiting? She is going to be the vice-president of the company now."

"Yes, Mother."

"Now, I am certain that Byakuya is going to be very proud of her, don't you think so too Akihiro dear?"

"Yes, Dear."

"Oh, that reminds me, Akihiro we need to get her something for her promotion celebration as a present…Maybe some fine wine. I think we should try to find her something from the Kyoraku Vineyard…yes we need to visit Shunshui tomorrow."

"Yes, Dear."

Blaa blaa blaa…

Hidehiro was feeling a bit down. Not because of this dinner but because he missed the one person who was not there keeping him company. The fourth chair around the oval table was empty.

He was not really in the mood to listen his mother's continuous roll of speech. Sometimes he could not understand how such a lady from prestigious family as theirs could be such a chatterbox during dinner, wasn't it against the etiquette or rules of behavior?

But that was not the issue here. He actually wanted to be elsewhere. He wanted to be home, under the bed covers and mope. No,… no he did not. If he would have wanted to do that he would have stayed home and then gotten nuts with the emptiness of his apartment. He was pathetic. His significant other had only gone for the week end to visit family and friends of their own and would be back by the next weekend.

Hidehiro missed their time together. And he would mope until his beloved one came back home.

He poked the carrot again for revenge.
