Summerday

Dressed in yukata, reflecting the sakura on the trees,

a lantern filled with light made our shadows dance.

Lights filled the sky,

and we walked to the steady beat of the taiko drums.

A waterballoon splashed in your face and a smile played on your lips.

And at that moment it was only you and me.

You took my hand,

and raised your head to the sky,

lights played in your eyes,

and I didn't realise it then.

Like a bird you said,

and watched the clouds grow darker,

until they were a deep dark blue.

I wanted to tell you then,

all the feelings in my heart.

But I was never sure how you felt.

If only that moment had frozen in time, I didn't need to have anything else.

You took my hand,

and raised your head to the sky,

lights played in your eyes,

and I didn't realise it then.

If only i had known,

and told you what inside had grown,

maybe it'd be different now.

But the summerdays have gone,

and I can't have it back.

I will never be that me again,

and the summerdays will not come back.

Darkness creeps up,

and their is no warmth.

The onyx clouds pass by,

and the wind sings through the grass.

A melody so hauntingly,

it reminds me of when it was you and i.

You took my hand,

and you searched my eyes.

A smile on your lips as the clouds grew dark in the sky.

"The summerday we spent,

when we walked hand in hand.

I wished I told you I loved you, then."

Darkness crept up,

And gone was all we knew,

Th onyx clouds passed by,

and all the warmth left your eyes,

as I whispered " please don't die."

Like a bird you once said,

free to go where we want to be,

infinite blue ,

where it is only you and me.

The me I was then,

I cannot be again,

as i whisper my love to you with no beginning and no end,

The memory of when darkness came,

and took you away,

when gone was all we knew,

and the onyx clouds passed by,

all the warmth left your eyes,

as i whispered " please don't die."

The me I was then

I can not be again,

and the summerdays i now spent alone.
