A chill ran down your spine as you stepped closer into the corridor. There was an unsettling energy that seemed to wrap around you like a blanket, seeping into your lungs with every breath.
Out of the corner of your eye, you saw a save point hidden in the light reflected off the stained glass windows. Seeing that your health was dropping a bit, you slid over and picked it up, feeling the determination run through your veins.
"The sight of such a quiet corridor fills you with determination..." You whisper, softly smiling.
"Quiet? Nyeh heh...Not for long."
A harsh voice growled behind you.
Your muscles locked in place.
"You're so filled with determination, it's sickening. The sight of bloodshed, it fills you with delight. The sight of a world crumbling, it gives you strength. Disgusting."
You caught sight of a bright orange eye in the dim before a lean figure strode from the long shadow.
"I-I…"
The skeletal figure grimly smiled. His skull was fractured, the lines around his usually jaunty grin revealing spider-like fractures. His expression was painfully forced and warped, with only one glowing orange eye set in an inky socket.
His typically tattered red scarf was replaced with an equally as worn blue hoodie.
Sans' hoodie.
Your breath caught in your throat. If you looked hard enough, you could still see the spatters of dirt and slices from your precious fight.
"P-Pap...Papyrus..?"
His grin widened.
"Surprise, surprise, human!"
The sight of the slender skeleton was jarring. After you killed off Sans, Papyrus had disappeared, without a trace. You figured he had taken his own life over his brother, or had fled with grief. Never would you think one of the pair was still alive.
Well, kind of.
Your face must have hinted at your thoughts, for Papyrus raised an eyebrow, taking a step closer.
"Probably wondering how I'm still here, eh? How I, the innocent Papyrus, the most ambitious skeleton in the Ungerground, the hopeless brother, happened to hold on? I'm not even sure."
His eye seemed to practically radiate.
"After you took away the only thing that mattered in the beginning, I'm still not sure why I didn't go ahead and end it all. Sans was the only thing I had. He was the man to tell me how I mattered, how I was great to him, and now that you mowed him down, I feel more dead than ever..."
Oh. Oh my god.
Your breathing slowed.
"You know, I would say I have no purpose anymore, that I have nothing to live for...wouldn't that be a pretty lie. I have only one thing to live for, one thing to dream about every night, as I retire.
You. You are my only chance at feeling again."
You felt your heat trill. After all you've done, poor, naïve Papyrus is-
"You should have never come here, Frisk. You should have been dead by now."
His grin widened to something predatory, and his finger flashed blue.
"And it seems like I am the skeleton who gets to do the honors….. The honors of ridding this world with filthy brother murderers like you."
Papyrus stopped. His whole body (or lack thereof) began to convulse. You would have thought he was going to explode.
"n-nyeh heh... NYEH HEH HEH HEH HEH!"
He dropped to his knees, lost in psychotic laughter and excitedly staring through you.
"Wowie, I've long awaited this... Time to say goodbye!" He said gleefully, standing straight up and laughing to himself.
You felt cold.
[Papyrus barrels towards you.]
(Just a little something I wrote ages ago, since I haven't updated this in forever. I'm really into Danganronpa now, expect some fics in that department soon!
