Memory

Clark walked aimlessly around like a lost child in the Watchtower.

A dimensional being had a crystal that was a tool to hold in someone's memories, and the crystal got to Clark. Chloe was working to find the culprit that took Clark's memories, though this was Chloe. She could track someone, anyone in no time.

Lois didn't doubt her cousin's abilities, though when Clark looked at Lois like she was a total stranger, it ripped her heart out.

Just like day one, the first time they met.

They were young, headstrong people back then. It was a good thing Clark was so forgiving every time Lois stepped out of line. It was the first time someone saw Lois breaking the rules to be a good thing.

They came so far from the people they were back then.

"Why won't we go out?" Clark reverted back to when he was a child.

She reached out for Clark's hand. "It… it's not safe out. Bad things may happen out there, and you could get hurt."

He could crush something with his strength by accident. His young mind didn't know about all his powers. Zod could take him and turn Clark against the world.

Chloe could do anything, though what if finding this guy took longer than they thought? What if it took months, years? What if Clark could never get his memory back?

She breathed. "Clark, I know you may not know me, but I am telling you the truth… You and I were important to each other."

"You don't give up on people," she continued. "Everyone in this world uses people as tools. They're selfish and only look out for themselves, but when I met you, you weren't like that at all. You're an honest person with good intentions, you're the only thing in this world that keeps me from being truly lonely."

Tears were in her eyes.

"And I don't want to be alone anymore."

Both his hands were in hers and she began to sob.

"Please… come back to me."

She felt his fingers push her hair back behind her ear.

"Lois…" The childlike air was still in his voice.

Looking up, she saw tears were in his eyes as well. By the look on his face, she knew he didn't know the reason why he was crying as well. He may have lost his memories… but his heart was still there.

"Don't cry…"
