Audrey often seems to be thought of as the mean, thoughtless, heartless prissy princess. And maybe some of that is true. But I wanted to try to dive deeper into the character to see what makes her tick. And so this happened. Enjoy!
The day during which Audrey's entire life fell apart started, innocently enough, with a tourney game.
But then, Ben had humiliated her. In front of the whole school.
He had announced that he loved Mal.
She had fled, tears threatening to fall. Princesses do not cry, she told herself firmly.
How could he do this to her? He had publically humiliated her.
This was not the Ben she knew.
The Ben she knew was kind and thoughtful. Thinking of everyone. Leaving no one out.
Mal was effecting him.
And because of Mal, Audrey had lost him.
Lost her entire life. Planned out from the beginning of time.
Mal was more popular.
Mal had Ben.
Mal, almost literally, had Audrey's life.
Pain shot through her at this realization. She almost collapsed.
She needed Ben. He was her rock.
She loved him.
Slowly, a plan formed.
She would date Chad. Everyone knew Chad had a huge crush on her. She would make Ben jealous.
But when she announced that Chad was her boyfriend, Ben didn't seem to care.
And that hurt even more deeply.
She left, unable to hold in the pain.
Pushing Chad away
and fell, sobbing, onto her bed.
