Chapter 1
The moon was approaching the sky as Kate Beckett was getting ready for her senior prom. At only seventeen she was the prettiest and by far the most innocent girl anyone had ever met. Doing her makeup and hair she was nervous and excited. She was going to the dance with her boyfriend, Trevor Wood, the coolest jock in school. Her hair was in a flowing, curly side pony tail, she was getting ready to put on her dress. Her dress was long, silky, and red with only one strap. She carefully put it on and did final touch ups on her hair and makeup. She put in a clip her mother gave her. It was like a curved crystal, sparkling in her hair.
She walked down stairs careful not to trip. Her parents were waiting at the foot of the steps taking pictures of her coming down. She took pictures with her dad and her mom and both of them. Finally the door bell rang. Kate pushed some of her hair over her ear relieved that Trevor was here to take her away from the drowning misery of parental guidance and pictures. She was bound to have a great night not knowing the terrible future that beset her.
Trevor came in smile on his face and rose in hand. Kate walked towards him gave him kiss and accepted the rose. Her parents took pictures of them together. She said her goodbyes, smile still on her face, and they walked out to the car.
When they got to the school they signed in and went to their friends. They talked and had some punch. Trevor asked Kate if she wanted to dance, of course she accepted. They walked to the dance floor and were dancing and jumping to a fun song. A slow song finally came on and they calmly danced. Trevor began to talk, "Look I was wondering…", "Yea?" Kate replied. His voice was shaky and he stopped dancing. Kate looked worried and backed away a little bit.
"I'm breaking up with you." He blurted out.
Shock grew on Kate's face. Her eyes formed tears and they slowly ran down her face. They had been dating since sophomore year, and now he decides to dump her and on prom night!? She ran out in tears. "Wait, let me explain!..." Trevor's voice trailed off. Her friends tried to stop her but she was already out the door. She called her parents and they brought her home. She was sobbing in the backseat. For the next months of her last year in high school she was never the same. She had never experienced hurt or pain. Now everyone who brought that to her would. This is what started it all.
