Hello! Well this is my first time writing in this fandom so I thought I'd start with something small. Test the waters per say, see how people react and go by that. So please review so I know if I should give up on writing for Tales of Symphonia or if I should try and write more.

Disclaimer: I don't own anything that has to do with Tales of Symphonia (except for my copies of the original game and Dawn of a New World).

Summary: His world has always been dark.

Rainbow

As long as he could remember his outlook on life has been clouded with pain, sorrow, and hate. The pain started when his mother spat out her last words to him, that she believed that he should be dead. It didn't stop there though, no the pain kept going. The pain lasted with new emotions making his life all the worse. Sorrow with realizing that being the Chosen, Martel's blessed child, was a curse instead if the gift that others claimed. And that's when the hate would come surging forth. He began to hate all of those fakers who pretended to care, he hated the Church for using him as a tool, and he hated himself for being born. Everything was shrouded in the darkness, all his life it blanketed his view on the world; turning all things disgusting, vile, and traitorous. While others would be awed by the slowly falling snow he'd curse the frozen water that reminded him of that day that his pain started. Everything was misted over.

That is until a flash of red swept the mist away. Lloyd, Bud, his confident, the one thing he could count on in his dark world that would never change, his best friend came into his life. Giving him all the things he lacked; understanding, a person to see past his many masks, trust, and a fellow human to chase away the loneliness, the hate, the pain, and the sorrow. Lloyd became that person. The one who showed him that the world wasn't such an ugly place and that rainbows weren't just myths.

"Arghhh! I hate the rain! It's damp, cold, and messes up my fabulous hair!"

"Come on Zelos, the rain isn't that bad. I actually kind of like it."

"How can you like it? It's water, water that falls from the sky!... Bud?"

"See Zelos! This is why I like the rain, it's a rainbow!" Zelos turned lilac eyes to where the brunette hero pointed and sure enough a rainbow was hanging in the sky. It was breaking through the dreary clouds its colors shining gaily for all to see.

"A rainbow huh?" Lilac eyes shifted from the colorful display to settle onto his companion. The rain had soaked the heroes' clothes and hair making Lloyd's usually spiky hair droop with the occasional drop of water falling dripping onto his face, in one word it made Lloyd look adorable. "Hmmm, I guess the rain isn't that bad."
