He fights so hard,
but it's that smile that really triumphs. That sweet, trusting smile that lights
up the whole world. He's strong, stronger than he knows, and he can be fearsome,
but that smile is the strongest weapon he has. It's that smile that makes
his would-be enemies falter and wonder why they hate him. It's that smile that
makes people tremble in fear--and it's that smile that gently draws them out
of their fear.
It's that smile
I love.
Not that I've ever
told him that--or ever will. How could I be that selfish, when he isn't? He's
barely more than a child, even if he doesn't seem like it. And he has a fiancé--a
violent one, at that. How could I add to his burdens by telling him a man twice
his age has fallen in love with him? He carries the burdens of enough people
as it is--and if he fulfills his chosen destiny, his burdens will only increase.
But from the moment
he smiled at me, my heart was lost. I only knew I'd been sent to test him, but
after I saw that smile, I did everything I could to assist him. Even if I were
to never see him again, I would always serve him because of that smile.
That smile.
One day, that smile
will save this poor world of ours.
