Sanctification
By A Navy Brat, June 5, 2001
In your absence,
My thoughts turn to passion,
And I begin to wonder
If I will ever feel my hand entwined with yours,
Or your hand hot upon my waist,
Or your mouth meshed with mine.
And if I will ever hear the words "I love you,"
Or the heartbeat in your chest,
Or soft murmurs of promises to forever.
Will I ever see more than the soft light
Of young love reflecting from your eyes?
Will I see timid desire
Or your wings holding me to your bare self?
Must I always be content with nothing more
Than whispered words
Across an infinity of space?
Or shall we share a night together,
You free of your kingly burdens,
I free of my earthly bounds?
But one night is too few
For emotions such as ours;
There could be no such thing as an excess for our love.
Must such a feeling be sanctified and legalized
Before we are free?
Let us dispense with objections,
And you will find me willing, and waiting,
My angel.
