Chapter One: Utensils

My name is Bela Swan. I'm going to live with my father in the god forsaken town of Forks, Washington. My mother cried when I got on the plane. Phil(her new husband) looked like he was about to cheerilee.

I'm going to Forks because mom and Phil want to go on a tour of Europe and she doesn't want me to be alone that long.

I'm currently in the car with my dad Charles Swan. We're heading to his house. I spend a month of every summer here with him. After a while of silence he says "So, how have you been lately?"

"Alright. Other than getting my nose broken by some asshole. You?"

He looked shocked and aangry. "What the fuck? What happened?"

"Some guy cornered me after school. Said he didn't want a faggot in his gym class watching him change. It's a big school. Stuff like this happens."

"What did the school do?"

"They suspended him for a couple days."

"Better than nothin' I suppose. Nose all healed up?"

"Yeah."

He switched the topic."I fixed up your old room. Figured since you're eighteen you woudn't want dinosaur wallpaper."

"Thanks."

"No problem."

After a while longer we arrived at the place I'd be staying for at least six months. It looked about the same as it did last time I was here in July. I did notice one new thing though. There was a small white car sitting in front of the house.

"You got yourself a new car?" I guess he didn't want to drive the police cruser all the time.

"Actually it's for you. You do have your lisence updated for Washington right?

"Yes. You didn't have to do this though."

"I work most days. I figured you might not want to take the bus."

"Thanks."

It was already pretty late so we ordered pizza and he showed me to my room (after we brought my stuff inside).

"Night." I said.

"Goodnight."

Then I went into my room. He had indeed removed the childish wallpaper. I changed into some old sweats and went to bed. I would unpack tomorrow. I wondered what school would be like.
