Chapter 1
The beginning
People around us screamed. I rolled my eyes and sighed, it's time to move again. We were at my school open house and teachers sat at different tables around the lunchroom telling parents how good or how bad they were doing in their classes when my little brother Matt thought it would be a good idea to conjure flames. Again. We were just about to talk to my math teacher when people started to notice flames cupped in his little hands.
"Don't worry it's just a magic trick!" My mom exclaimed pouring juice into his hands. Something tells me people weren't very convinced because I couldn't help but notice peoples eyes on us as we walked from teacher to teacher.
At home that night my mom called a realtor and began packing all of our things.
"I didn't mean too." Matt cried into my shoulder.
"It's okay, your still learning not to." I said.
"I bet when you were eight you didn't mess up." He continued to cry. I gave him a hug then patted his back.
"Of coarse I did. In kindergarten I made it rain on my teacher during nap time and again in second grade I wanted to be the first on the jungle gym and teleported." I said making Matt laugh.
"That's stupid." He said and went to bed smiling.
I helped mom carry boxes into yet another moving van the next morning and we got into the van and drove towing our old sedan on a trailer behind us.
"Where exactly are we going?" I asked my mom.
"Stanwood." She replied.
"Washington?"
"No mars." She said rolling her eyes.
I nodded. We've never moved outside of Washington ever, my mom says it's something about missing all the green but I have a feeling there's something else.
We arrived in Stanwood in less than an hour and drove around looking for an apartment building.
We looked and looked then finally we found one close to both the high school and the elementary school, I know what you're probably thinking 'how does a family move in one day?' well, lets just say my mom is very persuasive. When we entered the doors my mom talked to the man at the desk and as soon as she put her hand on his shoulder I knew my mom was going to get us an apartment today. She started talking to him while Matt and I stood watching her. Our mom is special like us she controls minds but only by touching that person, the hand on shoulder thing is just a casual way of getting people to do her bidding.
Within an hour we were moving boxes into apartment 213.
"Nazz how about you speed things up a bit." She said winking.
"Seriously?" I asked, mom never let me use my…abilities around other people.
"Sure you can as long as you bring up the boxes." She said putting away dishes while Matt put his things in his room.
I take a deep breath and shut my eyes and when I open them find myself in the back of the moving van. I then lift my arm and the boxes rise into the air then I close my eyes again and instantly am back in the new house with the boxes hovering over the floor. I gently put them down and begin sending the contents of the boxes around the room.
I sent them to the right places easily and in minutes the apartment was fully furnished and everything was in place.
"Thanks Nazz." My mom said. "I didn't have to convince you this time."
I laughed as Matt came into what was now the living room with his Pokémon cards.
"You two have school tomorrow you better get off to bed.
"Wait, tomorrow?" I asked.
"Yeah, I though that I'd enroll you tonight so I can have the house to myself tomorrow." She said
"Evil." Matt said trudging back to his room.
